Intel_314: "I've seen a guy with 14,000 hours in skyrim"
It's very likely that he hasn't played anywhere near that much. I've played more than 200 hours of Skyrim but the rating says I've played more than 1000 hours (forgot the exact number.).
I read the exaggerated playtime data has to do with some games being connected to an online server which may continue to stay connected after you log out unless you log off from Steam/close Steam down as well.
