If you were a fan of the old school TMNT beat em ups you'll love this game. It takes what the konami games did and improves upon them with extra moves, more playable characters, a hub world, and slight rpg mechanics. This game is filled with tons of turtle fan service and was absolutely a product of passion. This is definitely a game you shouldn't sleep on if you are a fan of the turtles or even just a fan of the konami games.

The best way to describe Stardew Valley is an indie game very reminiscent of Harvest Moon. Like in Harvest Moon, you own a farm and spend every day deciding what you want to do with said farm. What makes this game so great is the amount of freedom and things to do. It doesn't take long to open up all the activities like fishing, farming, mining, etc. What also makes this game so great is there is no set goal per say. There are certainly activities or goals that have a definitive end. But the game doesn't require you to do them. You decide what you want to do and work towards, not the game. Wanna befriend everyone, you can do that. Wanna ignore the town members and just work on your farm, you can do that. Do you want to focus on making your farm look aesthetically nice or focus on making money, you can do either. The fact that as of writing this, I have 172 hours in the game, goes to show just how much bang for your buck this game can be depending on how intriguing this game is to you. Overall if you need a chill game that can lasts you hours, this game is the one for you.

Touhou Luna Nights is a short spinoff of the Touhou series. It's a metroidvania where you can explore, level up, and do many other things you find in your typical metroidvanias. It may be short but it has a fantastic ost, great animation, and very tough but fulfilling gameplay. If you're a fan of Touhou and metroidvanias this is definitely worth a shot. Even if you don't like Touhou I can still recommend this to metroidvania fans.

Necrolepsy is a short, but very fun and replayable metroidvania. You play as a woman named Lira who's cursed with a curse called Necrolepsy. it causes the person who has it to fall asleep, have nightmares, and for those nightmares to become a reality. Lira sets out to stop the curse so she can live a peaceful life. Obviously since this is a metroidvania, story isn't super complex. But you don't need a deep, complex story to make a good metroidvania. Besides the writing is enjoyable enough for it to not get stale. If you do have an issue with the story, you can just skip the cutscenes. The visuals may not be as complex as other indie games, but they get the job done and make the cutscenes have a certain charm to them if that makes sense. As far as gameplay concerned, each area is split up into different stages. If you played dust an elysian tail or castlevania order of ecclesia, it is kind of like that. Like every other metroidvania you get power ups and moves that let you progress through different parts of the area. What makes it stand out from the rest is the time limit element and its combat. Throughout the game you have a time limit that constantly ticks down and if it hits zero than enemy's get more difficult. In order to return the time limit to normal you must find a bed or save point. You might hate the idea of a time limit, but trust me it makes the game fun and it doesn't hamper the experience. The combat is all about using different moves and getting combos. Not only is using different moves fun and rewarding, but it also gets you more cash. You can use the cash to buy upgrades at the store. As far as music and sound is concerned it's good. I'm not one to remember music well, but it never got stale and it was a delight to listen to. My only huge concern is at times the map didn't feel helpful enough to understand where to go next. Like I said earlier it is not long, but the plentiful amount of difficulties and modes to pick from gives the game heavy replay value. Overall if you're itching for some metroidvania goodness or a neat time sink, this is the game for you!

I'll start off my review by saying this game is highly worth the 20 bucks I spent on it. The story is about a girl named Lea who lost her memory and is inside a game called Cross Worlds. In the game you slowly learn more about yourself and meet plenty of people along the way. The story is intriguing to watch and the dialogue and characters in this game are very enjoyable. The gameplay is a fast paced action rpg. You can dash, shoot, and melee many different enemies. It even has a lot of puzzles kind of like a Legend of Zelda game. The game has leveling up like every other rpg and a skill branch system for you and the 4 elements you'll use throughout the game. These elements make combat more complex and puzzles more diverse since they change up the puzzles as well. There are even plenty of collectables, money, and armor for you to obtain. Overall this game gives you a lot of bank for your buck. There is even a demo if you are interested. This has to be one of the best indie games of 2018 and I implore you to buy and play it now!

Super Meat Boy is an incredibly difficult, but rewarding game. You played as a boy named Meat Boy who had his girlfriend, Bandage Girl, kidnapped by Dr Fetus. Meat Boy makes it his mission to go after him. The story isn't why you play this game however. The game is a platformer where your objective is to get to bandage girl at the end of each level. As I said earlier this game is incredibly difficult and you will die many times. However this isn't an issue because the stages only last a couple seconds usually and you respawn almost immediately after you die. This helps make death not get old and makes you really want to conquer the level. There are even unlockable characters with different abilities that you can unlock. Overall if you like platformers and are looking for a challenge, this game is right for you!

This game is like if Sonic team decide to make another property that is as good as sonic. Like sonic it has speed yet the combat really fits the game well. The story can be long, but is compelling. The game has action at every turn. This is what I felt was a great love letter to sonic. If your a fan of the classic sonic games give this a try since it has a demo. Heck even if you don't like sonic you might enjoy it.
