This game is... wonderful, I don't think I have the words, but I will *try*

Xcom: Enemy Within (never played without DLC) is an all enoumpassing experience done right. RPG elements with building and outfitting your soldiers with different perks and gear, Heavy strategy elements that are a bit punishing but overall fair, an nice few of campaign setting toggles for spice, a fun story, and more sitting in my head that I can't put words to

TLDR: this game is one of the kings, and I fully recommend the Long War mod once you've beaten it vanilla

Game was a master piece.. but a mixture of non-existent optimization, QA testing, or seemingly even care the devs have sunk their own battleship. Unless you've got a high grade computer, this game is practically unplayable at the moment, and the devs haven't even acknowledged the issues. Used to be I could play with DirectX 12 on medium-high settings, 60FPS and the game was only 70GB. Today? Today I can barely play it with DirectX 11, minimum settings, 30FPS, 140GB in size, and constant crashing and major glitches. I hate not being able to recommend the game anymore, but that's where we're at

So.. I'm no poet, so I'm not gonna try and make some fancily worded review.. Skyrim was - for it's time - a revolusionary master piece in the RPG world.. well now it has a relative rival... there, enough said, if you like RPG games, you know exactly what kind of praise that is

9/10 - personally have to run it at 30 FPSS, but still a god tier game.. the review bombing is people being children, ignore it

Did you like Remnant: From the Ashes? If yes, you will adore this game, it takes everything the first game had going for it, and cranks it up to 11. the biomes are diverse, interesting, and have a lot more depth than they used to.. and they already had a lot of depth, we get to see old ones return, and several brand new ones. The weapon variety is bigger, there's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BOWS now. There's a cap on how many trait points you can have applied forcing you to actually make a build rather than just be a god and do everything. armor is now primarily fashion/resistance, since they no longer have skills built into them, making dumb looks for optomized builds. Instead you get a total of 4 ring slots, an amulet, weapons can all hold a 'mutator' which can be anything form the old bandit armor effect of "chance to return ammo to mag upon hitting target" all the way up to "hitting someone makes your gun do more damage". The dragon heart, renamed "the relic" has variations, so you can have different forms of healing or bonuses from it to better suit your build/play style. the relic can hold 3 'fragments' that start out with weak effects that can be upgraded, and better versions obtained over time. These can affect every aspect of your character, from mod cost lowering, to movement speed up. the class system is MASSIVE now, and actually has impact beyond your starting gear, having unique traits attached to them, and 'skills' that level as you rank up the class all the way to 10. at rank 10 the trait also becomes globally available. each class also comes with 3 'abilities' that you can activate, from summoning root monsters permanently under your thrall, to just good old hunter marking targets. Don't worry about wanting to play the new thing, but liking your current load out, once you unlock your 10th trait point, you can equipd a SECOND class, but you don't get their "prime perk" which is a massive boon that each class can give.. for instance medic can build up 'charge' from healing ANYTHING to recharge their relics.

TDLR: this game is fantastic in ways that I can't find enough words for, if you can spare the money, buy it and convince your friends to buy it, it is AMAZING solo, but even better with friends

this game is slow, dull, and has none of the charm or fun of remnant, this games predecessor. Yes, I am aware this game is meant to be a prequil, but it's slow, little to nothing happens.. and in my opinion, worst of all it's more puzzle than anything else, with all the vaugness of remnent as well. do not buy this game

Do not buy it, at least not yet... the main staple of the DLC, the dreadnought, is locked behind a very specific style of mission modifier called a 'technophage outbreak' and the reasoning is that the mission is 'harder' which isn't really true if you bring any amount of AoE, as the ENTIRE difficulty spike is a mix of the recent update nerfing some of the knight's kit, and that in the mission there are more enemy cells, and they're more tightly clustered together.. for fake difficulty. not to mentiont he dreadnought is expenssive and slow to kit out, requiring a lot of dedication for a unit you can rarely use. it also can only be healed by the tech marine, meaning using it locks TWO of your slots, as without the tech marine the dreadnought is next to grunteed to either be badly damaged or K.O.ed. This was not originally mentioned in the DLC description by the way, it was noted with an edit after release. In general the DLC has brought a lot of issues, and a lot of horrible design choice, far more than it did honest content.. and while I personally love the concepts introduced, it just feels like I'm playing the same game, with some fake difficulty, and an underpowered new class, as the tech marine is... squishy, and the servos he commands are... weak at their best
