Playing Dead island 2 is like eating a bucket of fried chicken, appetizing at first, until you are filled up and forced to chump down the greasy remaining. Play it if you have a good GPU and spare money. Play it if you don't care about plots or completing the game.
The level designers for this game is in heavy debt to all the artists, sound designers and everyone who dedicated their brilliance to creating such an almost-called-great game.
I really wanted to appreciate the movie-like scenery and the immersive atmosphere, but the more I play, I just cannot bring myself to sit down and enjoy it like when I first started it. All this boredom eventually starts kicking in, the same enemy type, the same mission type, identical puzzles, repetitive use of mechanics, all these pushing you to rush through the end chapters, I spent ~60 hours in the first few chapters, and only 2 hours for the remaining ones because I just couldn't stand it, I was literally suffering, I would have uninstalled immediately if not for my paranoia of completing the thing.
What a pity.
