The game rides it's own hype for the first part of the game. A very precise point in the game shows where the wave ends and GearBox falls flat on it's face: the introduction of the Balex character. You'll notice around that time that the storytelling take a backseat and the game just sits on what it's done so far and tells you: ''Well you got what you wanted, a new game! No go on, kill stuff aimlessly while we make sure you paid the bill''.
