I have not played the game, but I saw your review of "Broken Roads" and am curious about what your alternative moral framework for the game would have been? Also you indicated "unfortunate choices" being offered during the portion of the game that aligns the "moral compass". I studied some Philosophy and morality is an interest of mine. I can see where video games, as with any other art form, are immitated by life as much as art immitates life.

I'm curious; if the game presents a malformed model of moral choice, shouldn't there be a disclaimer in the game that at least alerts players that it is not meant to be an academic model of morality but rather just a game? Otherwise, yes, it would be nice not to warp the moral fabric and send people off with malformed notions--if that is indeed the case with the game.

Yes, I agree the description of various ethical positions - especially of Machiavellism - that the creators of Broken Roads propound is indeed inadequate and misleading. An unusual review though! ;)

It's been 10 years since I played Banished in early access. I'm also the only one who pinned the developer with my hints and tips. How quickly time passes and how many have tried to emulate this game, using it to shape their own ideas.
So far I have not found a game where I can play so quietly, without war and damnation.
