The game seems like it could be fantastic, but is held back by being quite unpolished. If this game was considered early access i wouldn't be surprised.
The performance is absolutely horrendous, unless your using a rather high-end computer. Even then some people have had issues. I'm using an RTX 3060, i-5 10400, and have given up in the end and uninstalled the game. I will patiently wait and pray updates fix the issues. If the performance isnt fixed, the devs may have to take a big leap and simply state, "Sorry, minimum requirements are a RTX 3070ti and above"

Aside from the obvious performance problems. Im a little disappointed in a few lacking features. The game seem like it is being faithful to the originals, and not dabbling to much into what the modding community has done over the years, which is understandable. But some quality of life/Bells and whistles would have been nice.
An example would be they added the ability to slowly peak doors. Awesome, something not from the original, but in the same vein they couldn't add the ability to pull yourself over objects life fences, or the ability to free look while having your gun positioned forward, or even the ability to go prone. With a whole heap of wonderful improvements, there are some serious missed opportunities, and i simply cannot fathom why they wouldn't have added more features.

To steal a quote from Gmanlives on youtube. "It feels like a early 2000's game in the shell of a modern 2024 package" Some are going to like this, others may not, and then a final group like myself will just be confused as to why they have added some new features, while mysteriously leaving others out. The zone is full of strange mysteries.

Squad is currently the best Milsim Tactical shooter on the market IMO.

With massive battles of 50v50, large maps, realistic bullet/gun mechanics, and team oriented game play, its not hard to see why.

If you enjoy mods, the community for that is slowly growing, with mods such as the Middle eastern escalation mod, the star wars mod, and i believe there is still a zombie mod hosted from time to time.

Graphics arent the best unfortunately and this is one of Squads flaws. The maps can and will often feel lifeless. Understandable with the sheer size of some of them, and how smooth the game play is, but other then Fallujah which is the newest Map, almost all of them feel barren and dull a lot of times.

I would say the game has done a decent job with Sound design. Footsteps, and using Audio for a tactical advantage can be useful in quieter times before large engagements happen. The audio for the different guns, while it could be improved, is still quite good.

There is a decent amount of content with different factions, weapons for each factions, and classes to choose from, a few different game-modes, and they are planning on adding more. I wont lie, the Latest Faction they added, The MEC (middle eastern Coalition) honestly felt lazy and rushed. I hope they never pull something like that again and give the community REAL factions and weapons related to them.

The community is generally pretty good. Although, its can be hard to find teams, and even servers that are "tactical", there is alot of running around with little tactical awareness from a large portion of the players, very little strategic planning during the staging phase, and often little communication between players. But when you do find a server/players that promote these things, it makes it really worth the patience.
This im hoping will get nerfed out over time with things like a massive overhaul towards the Stamina system, and perhaps more UI options for leaders and commanders to help coordinate teams. As it stands right now, Stamina, or having to much to be more correct is one of the biggest killers towards immersion, or even fun gameplay. You can run around like a moron and it actually tends to work. The MEE mod HEAVILY nerfs this, and its brilliant.

The Vehicle combat is pretty good, i dont tend to play vehicles often and the only real complaint i have is they literally still haven't designed an inside texture for vehicles....lord knows why? lmfao Honestly..

Overall great experience 9/10

Its cheap, which is the main factor going for this game.
But to be honest this game feels more like a side project a developer is using to practice his skills, as opposed to a real game with well thought out mechanics and an end goal.
Not to say there wont eventually be a more completed project, but I think if it does happen it will be the result of the developers randomly deciding they've "completed the game", instead of them working towards a clearly defined goal.

So if your going to buy the game, keep that in mind. Its not even really a game, more of a world where you can explore and it has some minor survival mechanics.

Honestly the game itself is amazing. I'm a fan of the WW1 Era. I think the development company did an all around decent job at portraying the "horrors of the era". The gun-play is good, as well as the melee. The maps seem authentic and well done. Everything i can think off is honestly either pretty good, or excellent.

BUT.... There is no one playing. That's it. There just isn't enough players. 30-40, hell even 50 players in a match just isnt going to cut it. It will never feel the same as Squad or post scriptum simply because theirs no players. I've watched the steam charts for months now as well, and its not improving. Sales will see an obvious peak in numbers, but it never lasts, and that looming feeling of "Should i even begin investing time learning the mechanics, getting good" begins to set in quickly.

For anyone who genuinely supports this game, and continues to play it. My hats off to you. But i simply cant waste my time knowing the games dead. Its a real shame as well, but at this point the devs should just spend their time and money elsewhere. I dont see this coming back to life, but i really hope i eat these words. I wanted a WW1 Milsim game.

Hell Let Loose and Post Scriptum both dominate the WW2 Milsim market at the moment.
Hell let loose is arguably the better looking game, with some catching up to do in regards to content, realism, and forced tactical play.
If your a fan of Post scriptum or WW2 games in general this game is worth checking out, and is often found on sale.

Update-2020 12-14 - Hell let loose has been out long enough to provide some serious updates in regards to performance. Yet the devs refuse to do so. Multiple threads can be found all across the internet complaining about the horrible frame rate in the game, yet nothing is being done.

Im now at the third time ive installed it, messed around with settings hoping to heck it will work, and it jsut doesnt. The honestly runs like crap. At first it was tolerable, its a new game. But its been years now. I honestly cant reccomend this game anymore. It runs like a piece of garbage.

Yes, and No

This is one of those situations where the game itself is quite good. It has alot of the same aspects of the Men of war series, which after 900hrs logged into MoW, i was excited to see not much has changed.

Then after your first 24 hours of Playing Call to arms you start to realize somethings that kind of stinks.
Firstly, the actual price fo the game is more akin to $80-$100 You only get the most basic nations and dont even get campaigns for one of the nations you do get in basic..GRM.
So instead of just one base price for the game, its split into season passes, delux edition bleh bleh bleh.
Two..the game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dead..like dead as can be.
At most you'll see 300 players on, but of those 300 players less the a quarter of those will actually be online playing games, and of that 1/4, onlyu about 1/10 of those people will actually have a decent ping/fps.
So the matches you DO get are buggy laggy messes that usually ends with most or all of the players leaving.

The maps..the kind of suck. They streamlined the crap out of the maps and focued purely on making everything balanced like a speed-ball field, or a starcraft 2 match.
They tried to create your basic competitive RTS and failed horribly.
I still have hope for this game because of the amazing modding community that actually understands what this game is..its not a competitive MLG RTS game, its not a FPS mmo, it is a Sandbox war simulator.

So if you can deal with the fact that its a dead-game, dont go into this expecting a lively online community, and understand the fact that the devs tried to bring in extra cash with micro transactions( and in turn ruined the game) Then yes, pick it up(probably wait for a sale). Other then that, jsut go grab Men of War.. it literally has more players then Call to arms.
