This is the benchmark for tactical shooters on the PC, and has yet to be surpassed by any other game. Raven Shield and the other original Rainbow 6/Rogue Spear games are true tactical counter-terrorism simulations, based on real weapons and tactics used in modern day counter terrorist operations. You plan your mission, you don't get to save during a mission, and it's one-shot and you're dead. No regenerating health, and when an operative dies it is final. I love Raven Shield because of the punishing difficulty, and emphasis on being the first to spot your opponent and quickly aim for the head. I think this is a good representation for close quarters combat, as close as you can get to real life.

I love this game, and it's sad to see the Tom Clancy and Rainbow Six licenses being sold down the river. Everything after RVS and Athena Sword has been dumbed down garbage for the masses. Rainbow Six was never meant to appeal to the call of duty or counter strike crowd, it was in a class of its own. I got this game when it came out in 2003 and I just re-installed it, and it's as good as ever. I've beaten the single player 4 times, twice on elite, and it doesn't get any better than the feeling of successfully completing a mission with no fatalities. I have spent countless hours on multiplayer, which is also great too. I can only hope they make more games like this, because there are no modern games that come close to realism and tactical depth like Raven Shield does.

I enjoy this more than 1.6 or Source. Community is good, graphics are good. The only thing I don't like is the nickel and diming for case keys, badges, stickers, etc.
