I enjoy the way the game handles difficulty. Instead of making everything a bullet sponge, the harder difficulties just throw more variety and volume of enemies at you. It also handles power-fantasy well. You have the power of to call in orbital strikes and air strikes at your finger tips. But you can still die very easily, if you are not paying attention, are out of position, or in the wrong place at the wrong time. Having a constant campaign tell the story of the universe is cool to. It nails making you feel like a cog in the machine. You are not the main hero, but your efforts contribute to the larger objective.
