This game is pretty cool but very clearly multiplayer first and solo kinda unimportant in the devs mind. This game is easy with other people even if quite underleveled but solo the last few bosses are pretty much impossible with max equipment. This takes a lot of fun out of it. The beginning and midgame is great but endgame is very boring. If you dont mind abandaoning a game when it stops being fun this game is perfect but if you get frustrated from it I do not recommend this game. It's pretty and has some unique gameplay but the endgame really put a damper on it which ruined it for me.

I played it back in early access so the following was the review from back then:

The game is awesome. The bosses are hard but not too hard and the gear you carry sets your level. The debuffs are clever, garlic, holy, fire, sun, silver is a neat difference to the typical ones. The sun hurts and chasing shadows can be kinda difficult but clouds are helpful. The graphics are good, deco looks awesome, enemy design is great and i love how you can design your own castle. The weapons and tools and their attacks are looking good.
There should be a machine or something that let's you transfer non transportable material between castles (unless it exists above lvl 70 which I havent reached yet but it should be available prior anyway).
I think you should be able to destroy the garlic clovers on sticks since they are just on wooden sticks or at least say something about how we as vampires just cannot. I dont know if it is due to our hardware but Coop can be quite laggy and as client quite horribly annoying especially during boss fights when you cant even see the attacks and it becomes bullet hell.
Sometimes you just dont get the books you need due to the random spawns. When you die or go down right when the V blood is taken you wont get it and have to do it again even when you are right there.
I assume most of the downsides will be taken care of during further development

It's a nice game which is rather short even though it definitely takes longer if both are tired

The game is not beginner friendly but if you can read and use a wiki you can not only find an above average nice community but a long lasting great game. There is no class you choose but a variety of characters you can play and each one is unique and you need to learn to master them. There is no pay to win in this game, you may be able to get a weapon or frame faster but every one is available to everybody. Most things you can buy with rl money are of cosmetic nature and you can also trade with other players to get the ingame currency and buy a lot of the same stuff too.
Many say this game consists of grind which is only true if you want to get everything, if you just play casually you never really need to grind or farm for anything. The Developers often hotfix and regularly bring out updates. If you dont play it hours on end you have content for quite a while, especially if you dont just google which is the best gun and just get it but try them out and decide for yourself. There is a lot to learn, find, collect, decorate, play and perfect. The devs might not listen to everything but they do listen a lot better than most others. There are a lot of pretty unique stories, enemies and mission in here.
Try it out and decide for yourself and maybe you will spend as many hours in it as I have
