One of the best games of all time. great music, great story, great gameplay, im at 100h and havent seen everything yet. it takes a lot of runs to get through the story elements and i havent even gotten to "moms" plan yet.

9/14/2021 update: its gonna be a while before this game is finished, but with this update progression is much faster, less bugs, good update cant wait for more.

As of June 24 2021: what the game has and what it is missing along with a concern about early access and a trigger warning for some people at the end.

Would i Recommend this Game: a Strong "Meh", its good as a quick romp but don't expect to get more then 10-15h's out of it in its current state.

what the game has: gameplay, a grind'y skill progression system, lore tidbits, and an amazing (but quickly repetitive) sound track.

what the game is missing: a save function, (in the middle of cutting a ship and want to finish tomorrow? too bad. there is not currently a way to save an in progress ship unless you leave the game running. ) it takes about ~ 1h for me to break a mid size javelin class ship.

also missing a story: currently there is act 1 of a story which i have finished 10h into the game, and honestly theirs about 15mins of story/Voice acting total. plus lore tidbits in the form of emails and data drives. A quick reminder this game has been in early access over a year. (admittedly that year was 2020)

Slightly buggy game play: the cutter tool from the trailer is in the game but in a less powerful form. it only cuts one or two panels at a time and seems to randomly leave pieces untouched when you want to cut them and other times severs fuel lines 20ft away. also better scanners aren't unlocked until later in the game and even then dont show objects like lights or handles, or things that arn't connected to power, or there will be one little piece of aluminum on a nano carbon structure, so you will be often left wondering why you end up with destroyed salvage at the end of the day.
there is also a bug where it wont let you buy oxygen or tethers from the workstation, i think it has something to do with controller compatibility cause i was able to buy stuff by plugging in an Xbox controller but not with keyboard and mouse.

As of June 2021, in my opinion this game is worth ~10$ + 5-10$ for access to continued development. i bought the game on sale june 2021 for 17.49$ USD, plus the OST. (if you want just the OST its available on Focus interactive YouTube channel, that's actual how i found out about the game)

The big if: With very little development in a years time i think this game risk's becoming an unfinished project. this is especially concerning with the way the early access is worded
Opprinnelig skrevet av author:
"We’ll decide down the line exactly how much game we consider to be the 1.0 version, but we’d rather stay in Early Access for as long as needed than come out early to hit an imaginary window we’ve set for ourselves.”

They have the hook, but the substance isn't here yet. i have hopes for this game, and will check back with updates but I don't expect it to be in a finished state any time soon, maybe 2023+.

Also one Big Warning if you get light headed around needles or medical procedures like i do. The opening of the game has very well done 3d audio scene spoiler of you getting your brain removed by a drill and it triggered a light headed/ fainty reaction from me and i had to go lay down until it passed. So skip the audio for the first part and just watch the subtitles if your like me, And if a DEV reads this please add some kind of warning before that part or a VERY visible option to skip that scene during it.

EDIT: Review chaged from not reccomend to recomend: everything i said below is still true but i bought a 7800x3d and now the game runs pretty great, its still a bit glitch (read 1% lows are still pretty low, just they way the game engine works with asking for resources as it needs them instead of before it needs them, which in most other games is programed around but in arma it isnt both for lazy dev reasons and for dynamic spawing of assessts for custom mission you can preplan all textures. ) for a newcomer to arma i think most cpu's in the last few years will have a good gameplay experance, if you are looking to buy a cpu for arma i would recommend amd's x3d chips and or as fast an intel chip as you can cool/afford. in 2023 threes still good deals on 5800x3d which would be a good budget option.

if you have fun while playing Arma, its inspite of Arma not because of Arma.

the game is nearly unplayable, <20fps on a my pc that can run overwatch at 200+ fps.

it dosen't matter how good the rest of Arma 3 is, the fps/game engine issues this game has make the rest of the experience next to worthless.

Dont bother with fps guides for this game (of which there are thousands) they will help, but only by <10fps. and its not even a smooth fps. you can play games on 20-30 fps as long as its smooth (playing Witcher 3 or GTA5 on my old pc build comes to mind) But Arma 3 says 20-30fps on the screen, but the glitchyness of it feels like <15fps.

the only reason this game has the player base it does is because there isnt another moddable millsim sandbox available yet. if another moddable millsim sandbox replacement comes out or Arma 4 (with a different game engine) everyone will
immediately jump ship from Arma 3.

in the mean time i would suggest squad or just play through the Witcher 3 again (5th time and still counting).
