Neat AA Terminator game.
Better than Salvation, better than anything we got in the PS2 and Xbox era. It's short, really short, but it doesn't overstay its welcome and ties things up neatly enough. The gunplay is basically a AA Fallout 4, complete with that game's gameplay loop of looting & shooting. The story is alright, there's some iffy parts here and there but overall it ties in neatly with the series' messy canon and gives us a definitive end of the series which the movies have tried, and failed, to do over and over.

By AA standards, I'd rank this game an 8/10. Due to its length and lack of replay value, I couldn't recommend it at full price, but if you bought it on a sale like I did then it's an absolute gem for any Terminator fan. Looking forward to more of Teyon's games.

I picked this up in 2016 and never touched it after the tutorial.
What a mistake that was. This is a fun, charming little shooter with the perfect length of its story that doesn't overstay its welcome. Despite the limited roster of weapons due to the time of the game's setting, it manages to make every gun feel satisfying and powerful in Silas Greaves' hands. The story is interesting, humorous and ends in a satisfying manner in the player's hands with a final duel that although frustrating, was immensely grin-inducing.
If you can, definitely pick this up, especially if you like FPS' with a great score and gunplay.

Fun, neat shooter. Makes me want to play it even when my motion sickness kicks in, that's how good it is. Tremendous soundtrack with a simple yet satisfying gameplay loop and awesome visuals & environmental destruction. Amazed at how good it is for the asking price.

I bought this because I like Warframe and I like Baro's inventory even more.

Edit as of December 2024:
CPU and performance issues STILL not fixed. Portcrystals still extremely finite despite DD: Dark Arisen fixing this issue and adding Ferrystones too. This entire game is a massive step back from DD:DA and it's baffling. Avoid this. It's one of the most disappointing sequels of all time. This game was such a disappointment the GOAT, Itsuno, left CAPCOM.

Original review:

I love Dragon's Dogma. I've 100%'d the first game on 360, XB1 and PS4, and just yesterday on PC. I have thousands of hours in the first game and love it to death as my flawed, quirky little gem of an RPG. This game is my most hyped game of the year, and evidently, I got it day one. The gameplay itself is great, the sound, visuals - all of it is dragons dogma 1, but crisper, which is all I ever wanted. I've waited twelve long years for this game. But, there is a severe lack of QoL features the previous game had; there's a regression in enemy variety and a total disregard for the player's time by giving us less options than ever before.

So, it pains me to say that you should hold off on playing it. As it stands right now if you haven't pulled the trigger on purchasing, wait.

The optimisation is awful, just awful. I have a very high end, £2000+ PC and it simply cannot maintain a solid 60 even with the more intensive settings turned off. For an action-heavy game, this is a cardinal sin. I found it somewhat tolerable in the open world for a couple of hours, but then to my horror I reached the capital city, and it was like playing in slow-motion. <30 FPS in some areas, lag when I use the steam screenshot function, a weirdly transparent UI that affects my motion sickness even with blur/camera shake, etc. turned off. If Capcom can fix these issues and promptly, this game can still very well be game of the year contender, but right now you should wait. (Spoiler: they didnt fix them as of Dec 2024)

CAPCOM can, and have, done better with their ports. This isn't the norm, and we have the power to voice our concerns so it doesn't become it. I'm no tech expert, so whether it means removing the DRM, tweaking some assets...I don't know, but for the sake of this game's survival and success, CAPCOM needs to fix it. In the meantime, I suggest tackling games in your backlog, there's more than enough on sale right now for a fraction of this one's price.

As for the microtransactions, they've been present as paid DLC since Resident Evil 2 remake. Do I approve? No. Do they hinder the games past which included them? Also no. So I guess these can be avoided entirely. I've seen much criticism that you have to "pay" for Fast Travel, but that simply isn't true, I found a portcrystal and ferrystone within the first two hours of play so you 100% do not need to buy them. That being said, I do think they shouldn't exist, period, in a single player title.

Thanks for reading, Arisen.

Not my first time buying and playing, so that should speak for itself.
9/10, great combat, lovable characters, bombastic narrative that sucks you in no matter how absurd it gets, mini-games that'll hook you more than the main game. Forever my favourite Yakuza entry. If you enjoy action games or you like melodramatic, goofy stories like Metal Gear Solid, you'll definitely vibe with this one.

9/10, It's alright.
Putting a Souls lock-on in the game but then making it misbehave when you so much as graze the right stick is monumentally stupid, though.

One of the greatest games of all time. You can't go wrong playing this game (with a controller). The story, voice acting, characters and soundtrack remains second to none almost 25 years later.

So, that's why I can't recommend this version. To say Konami phoned this in is an understatement. The menus are nice, and the limited options that are there are appreciated, plus having the INTEGRAL version finally playable in the West is a great bit of fan-service, but my God, they fumbled hard with everything else.

Stretched textures, 'smoothing' may as well be "liquify every asset so it looks smudged therefore less jaggy", and the performance actually dips below 60FPS at times, like when the HIND-D loads in to attack you. I promise, that's not my hardware either, I'm rocking a high end PC that cost me four figures and runs Alan Wake 2 at 1440p 120. A game from 1998 should be butter smooth.

Hypothetically speaking, and I'm not at all advocating for such nefarious things as piracy or emulation, but if you were to play this on an emulator, it would look and perform leaps and bounds ahead of this very lazy, very embarrassing port. I of course do not condone or encourage such things, who on Earth would support game preservation anyway?

If you want good remasters/ports, look no further than the newly released Tomb Raider Trilogy, because MGS1 MC Version sure as Hell isn't in the good category. If you're absolutely insistent on playing this version, I recommend the MGSM2Fix mod to get it closer to its original look and feel.

What a shame.

Bought this despite being a LR1 vet just to leave a review: this is a good bundle for newcomers. Farming Aeolak normally is annoying and a max rank Serration mod will cost you upwards of 50 plat when you unlock trading anyway.

Since you're new, spend your 100 bundled plat on an Orokin Catalyst, a Reactor, and as many warframe slots you have the plat for left.

Good, non-predatory pack for newcomers, nice to see from DE.
