I found this game via the sequel demo during the pixel art steam sale. It looked super cool, but I realized 5 minutes into playing, that that game was a sequel and found the original here. I played it... and played it.. and played it until I realized I was about to be late to work. Spent the whole day thinking of this game, only to come back and finish the next day. Worth every penny I spent on the game.

The game has fantastic management and decisions to make. I had to make choices on who to save, who to let go, who to kill, and this extended from peasents to merchants to lords and even my own royal family. So many great decisions and I am inching to try this again with different choices in mind. The heart felt moments in the middle and end of the game really hit you because you made the choices that got you this far. It is absolutely brilliant game design and I highly recommend this game for anyone who is interested in story and/or management games.

Phenomenal music. Punishing yet learnable combat. Absolutely gorgeous pixel art that leaves your jaw on the floor. I'd recommend this to anyone.

After finishing the game, I am left feeling amazed at the story the game took me through. I love rogue likes, but I am not the best at them. This game feels even MORE rewarding when you fail. Not only do you learn about what does not work, but you also receive bits a pieces of the story in between each failure/success. If you fail more, well not to worry, you get more lore. I played with a buddy afterwards and we kinda rushed through the game because we both did it ourselves and I realized how much the story jumps just to keep well paced with YOUR progress. Overall, incredibly rewarding. That is the best word to use: Rewarding.
