Whoever thought it was a good idea to mix the Telltale formula and the Borderlands series together... was absolutely right. If you're a fan of either of those, and even more so if you enjoy both, Tales From The Borderlands is a game you don't want to miss.

The first and maybe the main reason you'll enjoy diving into this adventure is the characters themselves. From great and endearing new personalities with whom you'll identify right away, to old favorites of the series and surprise appearances, even the secondary characters are worth meeting !
They all feel genuine and interesting, each with a real personality and their own goal and desires. The fact that they all have great voice acting reinforces that sentiment, and allows for very fun dialogue options, delivered just the right way. You'll even get to meet Vaughn when he was cool and athentic, before he became the terrible character that he is in Borderlands 3 or in The Fight for Sanctuary.
The music was also carefully picked, with songs you might feel like listening to after playing the game. That's how good they are.

The story, crazy as expected, is very fitting for the Borderlands universe. Often funny, sometimes hilarious, this is silly Borderlands fun that even takes the liberty of being heartbreaking at times, because you care for the characters. It's possible you'll experience all of those emotions over the course of a single episode too, which is impressive.
As usual with Telltale games, your choices won't have a significant impact on how it all unfolds but it's par for the course, and it never drags on in one place for too long. The 10-hour adventure moves along quickly and remains engaging until the end. It's hard to put down, so much that I ended up playing for longer than I had planned every time. It also put a smile on my face when I thought nothing could, which I'm thankful for.

The other reason the Telltale formula isn't for everyone, is because it always comes with a rather basic type of gameplay.
That being said, alongside the usual QTEs, mashing and timed choices, a few additions were implemented this time : an inventory to keep up with the story, a money system to customize your outfits and vehicles, and the ability to scan everything. In addition to providing information on the world around you, scanning is mostly an excuse to find even more jokes and puns, probably the ones that didn't make it into the main dialogues.
This makes it the Telltale game with the most "advanced" mechanics, as well as being fun, fresh, entertaining, looking good... I could go on, but i won't. But I could !

Tales From The Borderlands is one of the best Telltale games, up there with the first seasons of The Walking Dead. The graphics and mechanics have been refined, and the adventure is a joy to play. If you enjoy Borderlands and Telltale games, there's no way you won't have a great time with this.
A remarkable 9 for a ride you definitely want to catch. Sasha, Fiona, or even Gortys... These are characters you miss !
