I'm back from Finland and also had a 20hr layover in Qatar so I feel like I should include that as part of my travels too I got to meet so many people in Finland and it was such an interesting experience. People are very well mannered and kind as expected. It wasn't as chilly as I'd thought it'd be (thank goodness) but I didn't have enough time to sightsee. Hopefully, things will go well and I'll have an excuse to return. I'm happy you live somewhere so welcoming and nice. Although, I did get some insight through conversation into how dreary it gets during the dark months in Finland for the majority of folk. I think I'd actually quite enjoy it as a visitor. A little exciting! What is it like for you? Since you've completely relocated, it must be quite the cultural adventure.

That would probably disturb a lot of people. It's not like I enjoy others being tortured , I've always just enjoyed horror like a fun theme park ride completely out of reality but still realistic enough to give you the chills. I think people find it worse because I seem very sweet and enjoy watching videos of fluffy animals, but then will go home and turn on a movie gore flick. I suppose being more orientated to classic horror, you may not have that problem.

What you told me about your friend's reaction to Salad Fingers reminds me of something. Being a horror aficionado and surrounding myself with horror immune people sometimes blinds me from that fact that most horror creatures are actually really creepy to a lot of the general public. In fact, I'm pretty sure most of the horror related enjoyment I get may seem extremely disturbing to most people. I was watching August Underground (2001, don't look it up if you don't like gore and don't know what it is!!!) and I actually fell asleep in the middle of it last night because it was like R.

I wholeheartedly agree about the travelling alone being so much easier. I absolutely love travelling alone. It's one of those experiences that I think everyone who wants to/does travel should try at least once.

I haven't played Year Walk yet! I really should! The only reason I've yet to play it though I've heard so many good things about it, is because it has some achievements that I would like to get but seemed a little tedious at points. So as odd as this sounds, I sort of want to be "ready for it" before I dive in. I feel like it's one I'd want to instead of just the one playthrough. I will definitely play it. I wanted to have Year Walk so much that it's one of the few I actually traded on Steam for! Thank you so much for the recommendation. I tend to really love the ones you suggest.

That's so exciting because hopefully it'll lead to the rest of his video game catalogue ending up on Steam too for that extra accessibility. Personally, I got into journalism solely to hone my craft. It taught me how writing is as direct a form of communication as any other. Working on things I'd otherwise not be interested in worked in my favour since otherwise I'd have been a ghastly procrastinator (= present day ). Being young and inexperienced at the time, it sort of... whipped me into shape. It also helped me test my boundaries as a writer and diversify my interests to the extent that I could probably touch on any subject (not that I'd actually be any good at writing about said topic ).

Ah, my casual projects consist of a couple of pet project VNs. One is a dystopic sci-fi mystery revolving around the disappearance of citizens (slaves) within a highly guarded/gated workforce situated in the middle of the Sahara desert. It's written out in scenes like a play. My other is a high fantasy adventure story set in the controlled chaos of an era excessive with its vast scope of races and species which results in increasingly dysfunctional social stratification.

I would have to butcher your original text by putting it through an English translator but I would be honoured to get that link via PM. I haven't put anything online consistently like that before so colour me extremely impressed.

I think they were very meticulous coming to fine tuning how both new/old players could enjoy the game and did a masterful job. One thing that could've been better is the horror theme around it since only one segment in a later chapter was eerie for me personally. I think they've focused more on grim/gore this time (which isn't overdone).

I'd love your take on Paradise when you're ready. Please do let me know if you Steam review (or review it through your Steam group) it since I miss checking my activity feed most days.

Paradise is quite the achievement and Rusty Lake only seems to get better. I've yet to finish playing but am as intrigued by the story as ever and was surprised to see how they shortened chapters and made the difficulty hike exceptionally gradual. This initially caused me to be skeptical whilst playing up to the Fifth Plague (much too easy) but starting from Boils, I've spent a good chunk of time scratching my head until I figured things out. I'm at the second to last plague now because I'm stuck on one area but I feel R.L. Paradise is much easier and more accessible to a broader player base this time. It's something a lot of quality titles fail to accomplish since diluting original difficulty or content forces previous players to find the new version/game stale or unoriginal.

Right now I'm working on a hard science novel based within a sci-fi/fantasy genre themed upon Earth's climates . Within my lifetime I hope to complete a provocative but solidly portrayed novel showing stark insight into many forms of human migration, what it comes from and the impact it has on lives as well as the planet from a futuristic standpoint. I've worked on it for more than a decade. It's very slow but it's a pain to write. I also have other casual projects.

In a professional capacity I was in journalism, which I may return to at some point since I am highly interested in war journalism. But I only went into it hoping to enhance my craft since my preference is fiction writing. In the office I used to plaster post-its around my PC screen with silly slogan-like memos declaring things such as: "Journalism is not actual writing!", in turn driving my co-workers up the wall! My strengths are in descriptive writing and fleshing out platitudinous themes to make them seem more intriguing than they are. But then again I'm very weird so some mornings I wake up randomly wanting to pursue a career in writing tech manuals (though readers would probably get utterly sick of my disgusting use of run-on sentences )...

It doesn't have much of a story behind it unfortunately. I collect portraits because it helps me roughly visualise characters when I write and art like this inspires me. This particular one was in my database for a long while and over time I felt a strong connection to it so decided to use it as an avatar. That's about it.

Oh my goodness, achievements I like the puzzle difficulty in Rusty Lake too because it is just the right amount of challenging without being nonsensical. It also mixes in the easier segments with the harder ones using fabulous pacing that makes things feel very fluid. I'm expecting it's a difficult thing to accomplish for developers because it's rather rare to find that relaxing yet rewarding mix. I'm glad you're enjoying Paradise, Mase. I'm sure it'll get more challenging towards midend game.

Ohhh whhaaatt No joke, that's an insane coincidence. There are only to choose from but still. Seasons was the first finished without any help and then it was Theatre! Seasons has a nice place in my heart because of that (this was years ago so I was even worse at puzzle solving than am now believe it or not), and definitely my favourite. Of course they're all marvellous but I also like Birthday and Case (the more grime the better). As of now we have just over a day left before Rusty Lake Paradise releases. I'm pretty sure you'll play it before me but please rub it in my face when you do!

Some of the games in the series were harder for me than others so I'd take a break for months and then come back and complete them. And I liked Roots a lot too! Do you know any others similar to Rusty Lake by any chance I enjoy the universe and the art because it reminds me of my favourite director, es Anderson. But I've never found any games even slightly similar to Rusty Lake. I really enjoy subtle horror in PnC games. Rusty Lake does it in such a suave manner, don't you agree The gameplay mechanics when I first played also reminded me of escape room puzzle games, which is the only reason I happened upon Rusty Lake on browser when I did.

I love the Rusty Lake games too! I've played them for a few years on browser and mobile and agree it's so great to have them on Steam as well now with new games coming out consistently. It's probably the only series of mobile games that I have kept on my phone without deleting. I only saw that announcement this morning about the new release! How exciting!
