Very intense and totally engaging FPS simulation. This game is the closest to a Mil Sim game I've played besides an hour or so in Hell Let Loose and I find it quite fun. What makes this game stand out is the horror element. Without a doubt this game will definitely keep you on edge unless you are trained in Police or Military sweep and clear operations. Whether it's solo or multiplayer once you've tried a scenario a few times you realize just how dangerous it is even when you're in command of 4 other professionals, the atmosphere perfectly expresses the fear of the unknown we all have. The equipment load out you use is half the game and it's not hard to grasp at all, there's a few meta tools like the lockpicking gun and optiwand but you can experiment because you have total control over what each member of your squad has equipped depending on whether your playing solo or with friends. Hardest part of the game, (for me at least) is getting over the perfectionism you feel in other games with a scoring system. You obviously get the most points by keeping everyone alive but you realize that is never a guarantee once you've tried doing that and can't get through a level. You don't want to shoot someone carrying a knife and having a mental breakdown but you're in a meth house with no power, limited supplies, and a lot of responsibility, and you're scared because they won't drop their weapons just cause you yell at them. It's not as easy as an ethical choice of killing an innocent or not, it's the fact that everyone in the scenario could be innocent and no one can be innocent, that's the unknown primal fear that is on the back of your neck when you play this game, and boy is it satisfying to complete a scenario and have that lifted off of you regardless of the aftermath.

So far this game is super fun and the character roster is well thought out, though of course at the moment it's still a little small but they have confirmed they are definitely adding much more characters in the near future. I thought I was gonna be at least a little put off by the ridiculous cross-overs but that doesn't matter at all once you start playing, every character is just fun it's the most balanced 2D fighting game I've played. Even if the match is something like Bugs Bunny vs The Iron Giant there's no guarantee that the Giant robot is gonna crush the cartoon rabbit. You forget that it doesn't make sense (also the crossovers really don't matter) because it is a very engaging game, sweaty in the good way. Though there are sub-classes like Brawler, Assassin, Tank, and Support, each character still has mechanics totally unique to them. Also, the way a 2v2 match can be played is brilliant, I've yet to see anyone choose characters that wouldn't work well together because every character is fun, and I'm pretty sure that all of them (including Brawlers and Assassins) have mechanics that can clearly be used to help allies. What I'm about to type might be cliche but I've never "reviewed" a game before so I'm bringing out the gaming journalist quote. "It's a breath of fresh air", except it actually is this time because the game can't be ruined by adding 20 copy and paste Fire Emblem and Anime characters or damn Minecraft Steve like Smash. Because WB already put Arya Stark and Velma in the same universe and they made it work.

I don't know what the chances are but I thinks it's a hit or miss whether or not this game will even work for you. Kept crashing at the title menu before the narrator could finish saying the title. I tried all the solutions in the steam discussion forums and nothing worked unfortunately, I really wanted to replay this game especially with Vergil. If you have a console you are safer buying it on that unfortunately.

This game is a great blend of engaging and fun combat, intriguing story and atmosphere, and funny characters and side stories here and there.
