*I will do the best I can to refrain from any spoilers in this review*

I personally believe that the best way to experience any turn based (J)RPG is by playing them on a handheld. Now that might be nostalgia speaking from my childhood of playing Pokemon games on the Nintendo line of handhelds but that is where I truly remember having the most fun with any JRPGs including a more recent experience of playing Dragon Quest XI on the Nintendo Switch. I played the previous Yakuza: Like A Dragon on the PS5 and while I enjoyed the game it just didn't hit the same as when I got the chance to experience Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth on my Steam Deck.

I want to say that this game delivers perfectly on a continuation of the story revolving the new protagonist, Ichiban Kasuga. The story continues a few years after the ending of the last installment of the series, following Ichiban in his life after the events that changed the Yakuza world in a big way. You also meet up with familiar faces like Adachi, Nanba, and Saeko along with some new party members. Without spoiling too much this game follows two almost different stories that do cross paths. You'll also encounter Yakuza's previous main protagonist, Kazuma Kiryu and follow his journey.

Side Content in Infinite Wealth is very abundant. You'll find it hard to not take part in the whacky substories that the Yakuza series is known for. Just like the previous installments there are plenty of fun and involving mini-games to partake in. Whether that's creating your own team of monsters to take on a corrupt money-hungry association , helping clean up an island to attract visitors, surviving the dating world with Ichiban, or becoming an Uber biker? There's always something to do if you want to experience the world that RGG Studios has created for you to explore.

Performance will only be critiqued on the basis of the Steam Deck handling the game. I do have the settings I used presented below that I found to be very enjoyable while also making sure the game looked good. I had the game locked to 40FPS as a consistent 60 was not possible while also maintaining great battery life. I had no issues with frame drops until very close to the end of the game as Hawaii in particular proved to be very heavily populated between groups of enemies and the civilians roaming around the map. However, I never experienced any crippling issues that kept the game from staying in an enjoyable state and would always have the "perfect" experience while in battle.

Thank you for taking the time to read this review and hopefully it was able to persuade you into giving this amazing game a go on your Steam Deck or PC. Below you will find the aforementioned Steam Deck settings to make your experience also enjoyable.

I would like to put the in game settings and Steam Deck Performance Tab settings I used to experience the game while on handheld and not docked to a TV. Using these settings I was able to play from Full to 0% for roughly 3.5 hours

I had the Steam Deck use a "Per-game profile" so I could help squeeze as much battery out of the game as I could.
Frame Limit - 40 FPS (80 Hz)
TDP Limit - 10 Watts
In game here are the settings I used
Texture Filtering - 16x
Shadow Quality - Medium
Geometry Quality - Medium
Realtime Reflections - Off
Motion Blur - Off
SSAO - On
Render Scale - 90%
Anti-Aliasing - Default
Depth of Field - On
Reflection Quality - Medium
