I didn't think I'd enjoy the non-historical take, but I was totally wrong. I'm really enjoying the incredible diversity in playstyles of the factions that are enabled by the fantasy elements.

Surprisingly addictive and much longer than I was expecting.

This was the first time I've played a classic RPG style game and just stopped worrying about power gaming my character. I never found myself clicking rapidly through dialogue because I just wanted to get into the next fight to keep leveling my character like I have done way too often before. I wanted to explore everything just to see what weird and wonderful things would happen if I did.

The combat isn't all that great but really this game isn't about combat. What I really enjoyed was thinking about why I made the decisions I made for my character. I don't think this game will have mass appeal but I haven't enjoyed an RPG this much in a long time.

If it wasn't for other life commitments I'd be going for another playthrough already with a different approach. I definitely want to spend more time in world.
