I really wanted to love this game, as it has a great mix of point and click adventure games, turn based combat, and rpg weapon and skill trees. The puzzles are engaging enough to hold the users interest without being too easy or too difficult, and exploration is rewarded in the items you can find and the side quests that pop up.

I think with a few tweaks this game could be amazing, but as it stands I cannot recommend it, as some of the mechanics make it a real slog to get through.

Here's where it falls short:
- Towards the end, the exploration is stifled by the fights that pop up.
Each character has a limited number of actions they can take within a certain round, and these get eaten up quickly (2 action points to unlock a safe, and an additional 3 to then search it, really?!) and then the round resets, and often this means a pointless 10 min battle. The issue is the Action economy used in the fight is the same action economy used in the exploration, so if you use up a character's AP to win the battle, that character can't do anything until you reset the round again, often leading to another battle.

- The boss fights, especially in the final chapter are horribly imbalanced.
Bosses get multiple actions on their turn, and you have to watch a time consuming cinematic every time they go. You also fight the same boss over and over again and in multiple chapters you won't know when the final battle is, as there is a final series of battles. Battles are long and feel more like wars of attrition than engaging gameplay.

- Load out of weapons and equipment cannot be changed mid battle
There's a mechanic of what type of weapons each enemy is weak against and what they are strong against, but if you have your load out set up wrong for the battle you are in, you just have to slog through the battle and hope the loadout is good for the next fight


Overall, I enjoyed the experience of playing this game, but got to the point where it was no longer fun to play, so I put it down and I will not finish it.
