I dont mind "tragedies" but the only thing tragic here, is people defending it as a "Good story".

The Combat is fun and challenging.
Kinda like pokemon with a dodging system like nine-sols/ generator skill checks dbd.
Great graphics/ landscapes, interesting enemies.
I cant imagine recommending this game to anyone because of the "story" and the characters.

Early Access Review
I have more hours on the og runescape than I'd like to admit so ofc i'd give this a shot.

I have edited since "major quarterly update"

The game is ok and does provide double digits hours of entertainment. However i wouldnt recommend it at full price cause of the following:

Main one is the game is waay too in the early stages of development and sadly according to their roadmap itll take a couple of YEARS for it to be polished and theyll only update it once every like 4 months.

You are capped at 50/99 on all skills, they recently added the ability to level up mage and added 2 more mage abilities which are ok. You still cannot level up Range and it seems like they are gonna release it next YEAR and the up to 99 who knows when.

The game just has like 10 different enemies with very limited animations/attack styles, and since its runescape youll be killing them ALOT. It just feels too repetitive/dull and its a shame cause theres 1000s of enemies that they couldve used from the mmo but they didnt,

I know the original mmo runescape was not made in a year but it always had enough content to be entertaining and it used to get weekly updates which is honestly the only reason i believe that game survived that long. This is also not the standard early access game since jagex has been in the business for decades so it's a shame they aren't as active in this project as they should be.

This doesnt have the content, once you beat the dragon, you can't replay the fight you have to remake a character and start from 0. The dragon also still attacks your base even if you've slayed him. They havent fixed this since launch and it doesnt seem like they have any plans in doing so which is ridiculous. so the only thing really to do is build basses.

The main "story" is basically getting equipment to kill the dragon. Some of which doesnt even make sense like getting the anti dragon fire shield when the dragon spits acid not fire. I know its basically "dragonslayer quest" from rs and instead you get iron instead of rune but it still is kinda silly imo. There's probably single digits side quests some inspired off of the mmo but yea nothing too memorable.

The landscapes are forgettable as there's not much in them, not many landmarks its just alot of the same monsters in land. the only difference really is the grass turns different colors and the difficulty level of the units increases.

It is really odd to me that they didnt just recreate Geilinor (which wouldve been the obvious option imo) instead they just made this empty island that has barely any music.

What i did like:

Probably the best game ive played for building basses. It was really neat and i enjoyed the magical abilities.

Glad they combined skills aka cooking with herblore and fletching with crafting so there's less grind.
----

There are many cheaper games out there that i feel give a better overall experience so unfortunately as for now i will give not recommend it.

You might as well ask someone to hide your keys at an IKEA store while blasting a high pitched noise and you'll get the same (or even better) experience as this game.

Now if that's what you are into, and you want to buy a search drawers/ try to open doors that cant be opened/ tinnitus simulator then by all means go ahead and buy it.

Too slow to be an actual game and too many restrictions that make it not idle/ afk game. Also seems like the grind is insane. Shame cause it's free and concept is cool but not a fan of the "timer" levels which makes it impossible to be afk

The "detective game play" is like going to a supermarket with a shopping list and instead of picking the things up as you see them, you can only pick the items up in alphabetical order.

At every pace you get bombarded with information that the detectives somehow know which leaves very little space for you the player to actually guess what happened and really only leaves you with one logical conclusion to all of it pretty early game.

Almost all conversations lead to the same point. Do you learn something new? Sure, but that will only help you unlock another conversation down the line which will lead to nowhere in the end. Because at the end of the 3 second talk they do/say whatever they were gonna do/say anyways.

Beautiful graphics, nice city, good soundtrack /ambiance but its overall pretty short and for the reasons above I wouldn't recommend it. If the above does not matter then get it on sale.

5 hour promo for a dead by daylight dlc that will most likely never happen because of how bad this game was.

5 hours that would've been better waiting in the lobby for a match of dbd

If you want to play a supermassive game play man of medan (or any other than this sadly)
if you want to play something in the world of dbd....play dbd.

Great music and its free but the "game" lasts 5 mins...not really much there. More of a neutral recommend.

Good demo. Hopefully they make a longer game down the line with a better story.
