One of the most enlightened rulers in Italian history. Leopold was a oddity in his time, a liberal Habsburg. He was anti-death penalty, issued a constitution, sponsored scientific endeavors, allowed a free press, and had love for the people of his duchy. Had he stood up to the reactionary policies of his kin in Austria, he probably would have kept his throne during the Risorgimento. He lives on as one of the greatest rulers to ever grace Tuscany.
