I just wanna talk about how the game design of DRG encourages teamwork because that's where I think this game shines the most (among all the other praises I have to offer)

No matter your skill level, you can't "carry" a team by yourself. It's definitely *possible* to complete a mission in solo mode, but it'll be long and tedious compared to a full team of dwarves. And you don't want to stay in the caves for too long because ammo is a finite resource. So teaming up to complete a level faster is—at its base—how the game encourages you to work as a group.

But that's obvious for your standard co-op horde shooter. DRG, however, is unique in that it has procedurally-generated caves. This means it’s impossible to know which classes will be better suited for certain missions. So the game is essentially pushing you to be fully prepared for the unknown by having each of the four classes in your team.

Each class is functional enough to complete any mission from start to finish, as long as you can mine and shoot. But along with their primary and secondary weapons, each class has unique tools that define their class and work more efficiently when combined with another class. A few examples: a scout and engineer can pick off hard-to-reach minerals in just seconds, an engineer and driller can create a bunker to funnel enemies in a concentrated line of fire, and so on. Cooperative dynamics like this are truly unique to DRG and no other game I can think of.

Of course, alongside text-chat, the game supplies you with simple yet effective communication tools that are enough to tackle even the hardest difficulty without having to use voice chat at all. Your ping tool acts as a universal finger-pointer. Want to notify the scout of some minerals he missed? Ping it. Want your team to focus fire on a priority target? Ping it. There’s also a ‘shout’ key which is akin to pinging yourself. Want the team to follow you? Press the ‘shout’ key. Want to notify your team that you’re being grappled? Press the ‘shout’ key. Want to remind your team that you need to be revived? Press the shout key.

Co-op games like this remind me why we should help one another, because our own success depends on the success of others, just as a scout is nothing without his engineer. So that’s a bit of what I have to say on DRG’s amazing cooperative aspects, but there’s so much more to love about this game. The music is A-tier, the procedurally generated caves are awe-inspiring, and the devs are constantly updating it with significant content.

I will say this DLC has some upsides and downsides, but in my opinion, I think the upsides do outweigh the downsides by a significant margin.

Downsides:
- You'll now have a faction full of high and mighty nobles that will pester you with quests more than the vanilla factions.
- The monument quests in particular are by far the worst.
- I think the new music doesn't fit with the rest of the soundtrack but that just comes down to taste.

Upsides:
- A LOT of new quest systems that can even be used by other factions (by far the biggest plus to this DLC).
- Mech clusters bring so many awesome emergent gameplay moments.
- If you're hostile with the Empire, they'll usually give you some breathing room to repair relations so that they don't raid you with their OP armor and weapons.
- Psychic powers a.k.a. a cool new magic system within the game.
- You can get psylink neuroformers by doing quests or by meditating next to an anima tree, so you don't have to rely on the Empire 100% of the time if you don't want to.
- New way to finish the game.

As a side note, the Royalty DLC pairs really well with the Ideology DLC. It gives the Empire more background besides just being a bunch of pompous nobodies, and makes your royal pawn feel much more important, assuming they're also the leader of your colony.

One of my favorite video games of all time. It has limitless replayability thanks to its scenarios, difficulty, and most importantly mods. The modding community is the best i've ever seen. I don't know where this game would be without them.

heat signature is an overall good game. kinda got repetitive after a few characters. wish there was more variety in ships. also wish there was more missions you could do besides the different ways to do the basic ones (audacious, ghost, etc).

I don't know if it dould be fun or understandable from an outsider's perspective. But as a pre-existing homestuck fan(which i'm pretty sure most of the reviews are currently) the game's.... decent. The music didn't really steal the show for me compared to what homestuck usually offers. As a matter of fact, I actually want the devs to recycle homestuck music(or at least the unused ones). I found a grammar error in Xefros' dialogue which i hope gets patched (he uses 'an' instead of 'a' at some point and i can't remember where but i'm certain there should've been one).

I want to give this a negative review but i feel like i'd be betraying the fandom if i did. I WANT this game to have positive reviews so homestuck can get some publicity over the media. I just can't bring myself to do it.
