Borderlands 2: 8/10 (Highly Recommend)

Borderlands 2 is a game epitomized by the phrase "controlled chaos," and I mean that in the absolute best connotation possible. Regardless of whether you are playing multiplayer or going solo. However, in multiplayer is the TRUE way to experience this comedic gem. The world is filled with life and character. I genuinely can't think of a funnier game on Steam that I enjoyed as much as Borderlands 2. If you are looking for a game to grind and put hours into, this is the game for you. However, that being said if you're looking for something a little more shallow that is still well made, Borderlands 2 is one of those games that you can dip your toes as deep as you want in. Although let it be known that some difficulty walls in the game need to be either A) approached from another angle, or B) grinded out. If you are looking for a game where YOU level up as opposed to your CHARACTER leveling up, then this is not the game for you.

If you didn't like the first Borderlands game, I encourage you to give the series another shot with this game. Borderlands one had this issue where the game would feel empty for large areas. The characters, although still interesting, were far too spread out to be effective in conveying the same tone that Borderlands 2 does. The open world also feels far more fleshed out in Borderlands 2. This being said, there are still some spaces in which Borderlands 2's open world feels a little underfleshed but the non-stop action luckily keeps you distracted from this at most points.

My primary gripe with the game is it's organization. The inventory system is clunky, confusing, and obsolete. This could have been fixed rather easily, even in a patch. As not only is the shape of the GUI itself confusing, but the manner in which one interacts with it is as well. I often find myself wondering how many clicks it takes to switch items or move them.

Overall, Borderlands 2 is a explosive, engaging, hilarious adventure that is best taken with the goofiest and wildest friends you have. Playing with crazy friends often feels like you are another 4 added on to the eccentric and enjoyable cast of the game.

This game is truly a masterpiece. I've had this game for about 4 years but I only played it for more than a few minutes rather recently (I assumed more of it would be stealth based while only the intro is). The game captivates you story-wise and never lets go. I hardly ever felt cheated by the controls, they are incredibly tight and intuitive. I beat the game in 2 days and 100%'d it in 2 more (not counting Steam Acheivements). I've never felt the urge to complete a game like this, especially without a guide, exploration and development feels highly rewarding and satisfying. I've never felt the need to write a review for a game other than in a meme-y way, but I could not resist with this game. If you have not yet played this game then please, do yourself the favor.
