I have not played either of the two previous installments of Galactic Civilizations III. However, as an avid player of grand strategy games, I figured this would be right up my alley.

For the most part I was right. The core mechanics are relatively simple, but offer a lot of depth; which makes it easy to get into, but difficult to master. A good sign for any such game.

BUT... there is one major drawback. This game is simply incomplete. There are an insurmountable number of bugs and glitches that ruin the fun; sometimes by causing the game to outright crash.

On a slight tangent; earlier this year when Paradox Interactive announced that they would be delaying the release of HoI4, I was upset. But, their reason was to avoid delivering a buggy game to the consumers. Such an attitude would have been wholly appreciated here.

Lastly, I don't understand why the developers didn't integrate the modding of this game with the Steam Workshop. The ease of adding new ships, alien species, etc. would have been much better and everything centralized.

Overall, disappointed.
