A Text-only management game about making a Valkyrie company/harem. If you've ever played Free Cities for the gameplay and not the Gameplay then you'll probably enjoy this game somewhat, but as of writing, the game is only at 0.6.2 and is a bit lacking in either the management things to do, and lewd things to do. HOWEVER i'd say that, it shows a lot of promise being at this point in development. I personally hope we'll see some sort of "mission select" like Fort-of-Chains has, and overall a bit more interactivity with your little fiefdom and the people in it, like the policies and diplomacy in Free Cities, since having your enemies show up 1-3 times before their boss comes to knock on your bedroom door (literally sometimes) is a bit silly. If both of those elements get implemented even somewhat well, then i'd wholeheartedly support this game.

However, seeing that both Fort-of-Chains and Free Cities are 100% Free and have more to do than Sanctuary in time, I really cant support buying this game for a crisp 6€, which as we know, could be used to buy better games here on steam. Personally liked the experience but i know there are a lot more critical people than me.

TL:DR: Still in its infancy, wait for it to develop more, then come back and consider buying it

Love the concept, love the style, love the political systems, but good ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ heavens this game gets off on having you not know what is going on, bumbling around cluelessly and ultimately getting screwed over 3 different systems you didnt know existed or werent told about.
The developers are quite clearly russian, so i wont bash too hard on how the events and such are written, but it really feels like reading a machine-translated Fanfiction post on a website with less than 1000 users. BUT, if you manage to look past all of that, then this game is like top 15 in historical-political simulators on steam.

If you've spent long lonely hours of a late-summer day of the year 2013 watching Super Smash Brothers Melee TAS fights and wishing you would ever manage to even LICK the amount of skill from the two supposed players in them, then this game is your bread and butter.

It concurrently has 4 playable characters. which for a fighting game is a miniscule amount if you've played one after 1987, but the characters you do have are sharpened and designed to a laser-point accuracy, each with a viable and yet, unique play-style. doing endless 1v1's against yourself does get a bit boring at a point, but that just means its time to get out of weenie-hut-jr's and go get manhandled by the multiplayer community. Not-saying getting manhandled is un-fun though.
Fighting against other players is a totally unique gaming experience in my books, it feels way more like chess but at the same time you're constantly thinking about what the opponent tries to think what you will do, it gets to the point where doing the obvious thing is sometimes the unexpected option because you both start to expect the unexpected if that makes any sense.

TL:DR Fighting game chess for TAS-fans

Very good podcast game to talk over while with a friend. Not as complex as other strategy games but still enough content to engage. Though i suggest playing with mods after getting used to the base game as they can radically change the experience for the better or worse.

Everhood is my game of the year/game of the decade. And this speaks volumes as neither have even started/ended yet.

The obvious comparison is to Undertale (even the devs list that game as a huge inspiration, it is almost impossible to ignore undertale's effect on the game). The game features all kinds of characters, each with a distinct personality and at least a joke or two to tell. And impressively, the game manages this, while also telling a story that can stay serious. Better yet, that story preaches some very interesting philosophy if you are willing to interact with it. The ending does get a bit abstract and that might be a negative for some of you, but if you are like me, you will eat that up and ask kindly for seconds. This game has, no joke, impacted me very deeply and absolutely changed how i think of life and the world. And what makes a game good, is how the developer can communicate ideas and stories to the player. The ending is the best ending to a game i have seen in a while and to reveal any more would include spoilers.

The gameplay itself consists of guitar hero-esque "five lanes, notes drop down". But instead of playing them, you dodge and weave through them. This makes for a very unique combat style. The game doesn't refrain from experimenting with the concept though. It will throw curve-balls, some of them will land graciously and some others right on crotch, but overall its nothing too unforgiving like some other games like to pull.

Now for some 100%:ing complaints that i have, nothing really major you can skip this part if you haven't played the game. And even if you have you can/should skip it because it's me just malding at this point.
The no-hit achievements are very cool and give the rush of a lifetime when completing, but some of the later fights (Lost spirits' revenge in particular) is the most annoying thing to grind, because there's this 2 minute cutscene before the fight even starts. So I'll wait 2 minutes, get hit like immediately, and already i'm back in the timeout zone where i have to watch this door with the funny faces laughing at me (18.8.2021 Oh nevermind, as of today they fixed it so that now you can get the ach even while using checkpoints. I'll still keep this here for the sake of... idk archival?). At least it comes down to cutthroat execution in cat-god or the dev-gnomes. Or in case of the incinerators, pure luck. But the incinerators have a similar issue, you need to watch the cutscene (which, to be fair, is like 10 seconds if you spam through it.) But then restarting it, you need to either go back to the before cutscene via alt-f4 or go through the entire post-mortem timeout box.

24.11.2021 The devs have also added battle-replay mode with online scoreboards for every single fight in the game. You can also no-hit (or 5 star if you prefer) these fights, so if you were like me and no-hit the fights before, well now you can do it again! The only real complaint about this system is that it seems to be a bit unstable even now, as in some fights, some notes feel a little off and sometimes (rarely though) you get some lag spikes that also screws with the notes. Sometimes when you die, you might hear some noises like the character talking or some other sound effects even in the retry screen, but thats really only an aesthetic problem. Also the DnD/sword of parrying red attacks fights feel even more ♥♥♥♥-y than in normal gameplay, but i guess that's just because I'm more used to the hand attack mechanic.

Overall:
Foreign gnomes have truly made a masterpiece deserving of my "hall of fame" list. Even if you dont want to buy the game or are still on the fence about it. I suggest watching people like critikal or others review or play the game, just to see the story or to see the demi-gods who can no-hit the optional secret "haha you're dead" bosses. Though the game is best experienced when not knowing what punches it's gonna pull on you.

Back in 2016 when i would sit in a lecture about ♥♥♥♥♥♥' agricultrual purposes in medival britain, i would open my laptop and search onemorelevel.com and load up luftrausers, and boom, im no longer a failure of a collage student, i am a german pilot in the gulf of britain, fighting for the reich.
Theres just something with the movement, just something with the music, just something with the impact effects, just something with the flow of the game that makes every boot up make me ready to have a good time shooting some brits.
The various unlockables to the plane will keep anyone playing it more that five minutes.
The simplicity yet complexity with shooting people in a plane is just so much fun, and the feeling of "another one" from the arcade times will make me open this on a dark day where not much has happened.

4/5
