It's fun and free, just try it.

Avoid buying things from the shop, prices are fairly similar to warframe, but there isn't a trade system (as far as I'm aware so far). Also, buying things from the shop is literally just robbing yourself of your money and farmable content.

Update at ~50 hours playtime:

Still haven't spent any money, I have Freyna, just finished farming Enzo and he's building overnight. I'll talk about things that annoy me or I don't like first.

1. Certain boss mechanics

There are very dumb and unnecessary boss mechanics. The orbs are NOT clear to most players just starting off and the pulsing immunity orbs are just plain dumb. It feels like these immunity phases take the place of typical raid mechanics.

2. The Devourer Boss

This boss needs tuning. Avoiding spoilers but it needs to be looked at.

3. Reactor (orokin potato equivalent) pricing.

Not much bothered me regarding the shop, I just didn't find a need to buy anything and I have been doing completely fine. Roughly about 25 hours in, they give you a reactor for free, and after putting that on a weapon I thought I would like more, I wanted another and actually considered spending some money on another reactor or two... until I saw the price.

It is $25 ($20 bundle is just under the required amount) to get enough currency for 1 reactor, which adds 30 module slots on a weapon or descendant. That is crazy. In warframe, which prices have been pretty consistent, it costs less than $2 for a potato, and it doubles your modules.

4. Optimization

The game generally has been running fine. I recently in the last 10hours of my playtime, switched from High settings to Medium, since I was consistently maxing my memory and getting pretty large freezes. (lowering helped). When I'm not freezing, I'm getting around 110-130 frames.

Specs: RTX 4070, M.2 SSD, 32GB Ram, i5-13600KF

5. Shard system.

I do not like this system too much so far, it is very tedious, however this is low on my annoyance as I suspect it will get better once less people are looking for boss groups, and more farming groups. (You in theory can all 4 farm the same shard, and in 3 shard runs, get 4 void reactor spawns, if each person spawns the boss).

6. Transcendent mods

I have no problem with the existence of transcendent mods. My problem is why there isn't like a big beam of light, a bright red item drop, or some grandeur notification when you get one? I have 3 transcendent mods, and I literally can't even tell you where I got them. I have no clue. Very big missed opportunity for the dopamine moments.

7. Mission types

It personally doesn't bother me but I can see how people would get annoyed. Missions are pretty much the same for the entire progression of campaign. If this would bother you, it will be very evident and you will need to do a LOT of the same missions to make it through.

8. Dialogue with characters

It's a snore, I don't really like any of the dialogue moments and sometimes the audio conversations just drag on and on and on. On the contrary, I notice the Guide's dialogue very frequently cutting out before she can even finish her sentence.

What I like?

A. I really like warframe

This game feels like warframe, but with a dash of anthem in it. I like both the styles, but I do think I lean more into the sci-fi tech side of things, rather than biological. (there's 100% better descriptions for the styles but its 2am and I don't know them right now.)

B. Weapon upgrading

I like being able to upgrade a weapon you've been using and enjoy to your current power level, by sacrificing a higher level weapon.

C. Modules/Builds

Building through the campaign is fairly limited due to the lack of reactors (+30 module capacity) and just access to mods, however I used the ingame access info page to view all the modules available and the prospect of crafting builds endgame excites me. There are pretty unique mods available.

D. Farming/Grinding

People are always going to complain about drop rates, grinds, and RNG. I do see these elements coming into play but have not really had much bad luck. I've gotten a few 3% drops from amorphous materials (relics), and it doesn't feel too bad. I do think it would be amazing if they added a similar system to warframe, where each person chooses a relic to open, and you can choose between the different rewards. I don't see any reason not to and that would promote group finding for target farms.

In terms of materials, I haven't had much issue. People that don't have the raw materials, must not be picking up the munitions barrels if they run across them. Just from questing I have thousands of each raw material to craft with. The higher rarity materials are very easy to target farm at Recon zones, or if it has specific drop locations, you can use the in-game menus to find out where to farm it.

E. Boosters don't feel "required"

I know boosters aren't required in warframe, but I definitely feel like if I'm not running a booster in warframe, whether it be drop quantity, or proficiency, then I'm missing out a ton. In this game, I don't really feel that way. All the boosters are a +30%, and really I've had a surplus of everything, that I don't think boosters would have made too much of a difference.

F. Uh a roadmap already? Nice.

Luna sounds like she'll be fun, updates in august? Sweet.



I'll probably add more at some point, but I'm tired and I'll reserve my insight for when I've tested out hard mode.

Definitely has an early access feel, but fun game. Devs have already clarified that AI voice acting is placeholder while they work on mechanics.

My friend tried to jettison two of us on a suicide attempt but he forgot the safety mechanism exists.

The devs have made it clear. They don't care about you. As an MMO, this game is dead and has been dead for a long time. The devs have been secretive and hyping up the pc player base that has been playing the game for a long time, only to have spit in our faces and resell + onboard the console players.

Do not buy this game, they have and will again, neglect you as a player, and keep introducing bugs that existed years prior.

I'm sure the console players will have fun, compared to other ARPGs, this game blows it out of the park. But until further notice or until AGS actually gives more details, this game is a dead mmo.

I think my friends might have tricked me.

I haven't found any dining and dashing at this point and it's starting to become worrysome.

Addictive game that you should 100% get the custom songs mod for to add some of your favorite songs.

This game is definitely worth the $10 it costs... You can have endless fun and there is always other gamemodes you can play on if you get bored with sandbox mode. 10/10

I was doing okay in master mode but then once we went to hardmode my friend instantly died to grass and I died to rain shortly after. Good game.
