Leveling is boring. You put one point every 15-20 minutes. Getting from 2/5 to 3/5 on a skill isn't fun for me. Getting the max number of points then messing around with builds is (thank God for the respec machine). Melee Krieg is the only fun character to play pre-UVHM only because it feels like UVHM playing him.
As for the story, Handsome Jack was the only character I liked because he's so cartoonishly evil. I don't know anyone who played/knew BL2 for its story. Roland dying when New-U stations exist doesn't make sense.
I'm speaking for myself. The point of the game is to have fun blasting enemies with guns that feel good to shoot. It's when you stop worrying about finding a replacement for your Jakobs sniper that felt like a nerf gun 2 levels ago.
If you want to play for end-game you better just go to BL3 which has tons more end-game content. But levelling and progression of new character is better in this one.
