Alright. I haven't reviewed this yet and it seems like a good time to do so.
At present, the game is on discount and it's already a very affordable game at full price.
The game is also a lot of fu**ing fun. The modding community may not be massive, but it does exist, and they've put out some neat stuff. At FULL price, this game costs less than having a pizza delivered from Domino's, and I promise, you'll enjoy Volcanoids for a much longer time than you would an overpriced, under-topped pizza. If you've got a spare 20 floating around, do yourself a favor and check it out.

Game's perfectly playable alone, but is more fun with friends. No surprise there, most likely. You can custom tune the settings to increase/decrease ore yields, cog(mob) spawns, time between eruptions, etc. It's pretty well-optimized, so it's not going to stress any computer that meets minimum requirements. I've played it on a budget laptop.

Just give it a shot. This is one of those rare gems. It's inexpensive and fun. The devs care enough to have added mod support as like their second update ever, and they're STILL dropping QOL updates. We live in a time where game devs usually don't give two stray f**ks what the playerbase thinks or feels. Support a crew that does, yeah?

I'm going to make this short and sweet.
When a game's developers refuse to listen to their playerbase, who have spoken VERY CLEARLY and very strongly about something simple... The game is doomed.
The players are what keep games alive. If a company gives no ♥♥♥♥♥ about a consumer, that company dies. That's not rocket science. It's understanding supply and demand. You supply what people don't want, the demand goes away.
Let's not set a precedence here that says VRC can get away with this, yeah? EAC is pretty invasive, and a lot of us spend actual money on models for VRC. A VRC ban because you wanted a QOL mod that the game didn't include isn't fair.

I haven't been banned, but I'm also not about to risk it on a software that's already known to be buggy, over-aggressive, interruptive and unreliable.

Unless you're a masochist who enjoys losing everything you scrounge up every time you run into anyone... Probably not your kind of game. I'm personally not going to recommend this game because it's not mine. It's pretty unforgiving, which, I guess, is the nature of what this is, but the combination of having to farm up your gear and being able to lose everything in an instant makes this game unplayable for anyone who runs into anyone else who's been playing this for more than a few hours and has gotten lucky.

Side note: Partying up doesn't give much advantage. There is no rez system in this. If one of you dies, that's it. You're dead. You've lost your ♥♥♥♥. No safety in numbers, so don't expect friends to help you against an opportunist.

The avatars (character models) are a liiiitttle janky... Specifically in their arms, but if you just want to have a lot of fun in a dungeon crawl with friends, give this game a try. Three of us got this game together and just dove in feet-first. So many laughs, so much fun. Try the beta version too. Get a feel for the things they're working on. You won't regret this purchase.

Understand that this is an early access game when you buy it. When I can batter the settings into taking my selections, and have the game run properly, it's a blast and a half. The characters are fun and goofy, the guns are badass. HOWEVER, for whatever reason, the game decides that it wants to run for me with severe speed issues. I clocked the difference to check. One second IRL is equating to 4 in game. This after gutting the graphic options on a computer that hits a tollerable FPS on Ark: Survival Evolved. The game also does not allow bug reporting, it seems.

This game is absolutely fan-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tastic. I definitely recommend using a controler vs keyboard, but both do work find, but being able to move at a controlable speed definitely helps in some cases where you can't afford to find the 'to whom it may concern' bullet. The story is interesting and amusing, so I won't be dropping any spoilers here, though the plot isn't exactly super convoluted. My singular grievance with the game is the lack of post-completion content. Once you beat the game, you've beaten it. There is not challenge mode, there is no in-game arena thing, there is no new game plus. So... it's very short. That said, it is also a very fun ride. Roller coasters are short too, but that's never stopped someone from getting a thrill out of one, and this game is the same way. At the price they charge, this game is well beyond worth its cost. If you're on the fence, thinking 'well, I always wondered what a grim cyberpunk Diablo would feel like' but not sold... Give it a shot. You won't regret it. I do seriously hope that the devs intend to add some sort of endgame, but even if not... I regret nothing.

So... I've gotten my hands on a better system, and would like to take a moment to munch on my words. Game's good. It's actually quite fun, and challenging. Ore density could use some increase, IMO, but that could very well be the seed I'm using. Graphically, if your system can run the game, it isn't too shabby. Certainly challenging, and I greatly enjoy that. By the looks, I was expecting to essentially be walking into mincraft in space... Not a kiddy Dark souls. Yep. You're gonna die a few times playing this. Expect it. Don't misunderstand. That isn't any sort of insult. It's actually really refreshing to see some no-sh** challenge in such a light-hearted game.

HOWEVER, my warning stands. Check to see if your system can handle this game. Don't buy it if you can't run it. If you can run it, I recommend this.

It's entertaining in the beginning, and it's a pretty game. The graphics are pretty darned good for an MMO. The gameplay isn't too bad, and the combat works pretty well. Plenty of flash for mages, plenty of slash for sword classes. It doesn't overpower the player, which is nice. There are issues, of course, and the party system seems unrefined, but so far, it's entertaining.

So, I've played almost 500 hours of this game, and while I liked the idea behind it, the steps that they're taking are going to be the killing-blows on this game. Basically, the devs are aware that the game is a shambling shadow of what it was and what it could have been, but instead of fixing that, they put old bandaids on a rupturing dam. Their 'fixes' don't fix anything. It looks to me, like the people who are "programming" this game don't know how to program at all. The original guy in charge of this was booted, and it's been butchered since... So I'm gonna leave this here as a result...

They need to just let this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ die so someone with some capability and a desire to see this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ saved can take over. I'm tired of seeing such a good concept being toted around like a broken marionette.

Potentially very good. I like the idea, and I hate MOBAs, but it plays pretty well. I ran into a super-nasty but where the chat kept overriding movement(because I was trying to move backward, turn, and strafe at the same time?) And that made me about as combat-effective as a brick with a gun strapped to it, so that needs to be fixed ,but this game has the potential to be very fun.
