This is a game that shines both as a singleplayer and a multiplayer co-op game.

It has a setup of characters that each all have their story, but there's also the option to create a completely new character along your own lines. The subplots of the characters included add some extra flavor to the game though. The main story is very interesting and well made and fits well into the universe depicted, so just playing this game for the story is good enough. The world is also riddled with alot of different objectives and subplots, so there's no lack in quests to follow up on, and as the main story even the smaller quests are well written and intriguing in their own right.

But it's the tactical part that really lifts this game. At higher difficulties there's really a need to think through what your approach of a certain situation will be, and making the right calls is needed to pull off the fights you get into. At the more difficult levels the need for a well balanced group also become more obvious, or more like necessary, but there are options to respec your characters which allows you to adapt them to the tacics you need to use. It's not as you need to respec back and forth, you'll find a base setup where the group works well together.

Finally, this game requires some time investment, so like that it's more suitable as a single player game. Still, if you're a couple of friends that all have the time to spare it's a really fun game to explore together though.
