I usually swear off a game as soon as I hear it's free to play. But this game is brilliant. Free and easy to pick up and play with your friends, loot and shoot through the "easy" zone until you get a decent kit. On top of that there is a shooting range where you can test all potentially unlockable weapon mods the game has and there is an absurd amount. Looks like there's a lot of fun to be had once I start extracting with the legendaries and buying some high-end mods.

Other than that it just has the basic essentials for a good shooter: Satisfying gunplay where you can really feel the kick, smooth controls and reiably responsive movement.

Out of dozens of Paradox DLCs that I own, I Think this is my first review. This expansion is amazing. The new crisis was a ton of fun and is quite different from the other crises which I really enjoyed. the new machine ship models are really cool and the new music goes hard! There's some intriguing new custom empire origins which I have not tried yet.

My only complaint is that the new music is not on Spotify yet.

10/10 expansion.

Hardest game I've ever played. Can't complete the Major Order where friends need to join my private lobby when I invite them to a "friends only" lobby.

Remember the point-and-click adventure revolution of the 1980s? It was ground-breaking that you could point anywhere on the screen with your mouse and with one click of a button move there. Well the developers of Project Zomboid apparently wanted to go back to the 1970s. I have played several hundred videogames in my life and I have never played a top-down game where the ONLY movement option is to use WASD. You technically CAN move with the mouse but you have to open a context menu and select move. So if you want to move with the mouse you need to press 4 buttons. So enough about the terrible controls, but there's also no UI scaling option so all of the buttons are microscopic on my 4K monitor.

It is very, very rare a game that's only $20 is not worth the money but the controls and the UI for this game are just so bad that I have to refund it.

Just bought the game on sale and was super excited to play it for the first time, as I've always wanted to. After two hours of jumping through the hoops of getting the Rockstar launcher to work, I've discovered this is one of the worst ports for any game ever.

It's impossible to set the game to full screen anywhere in the settings and the audio for the dialogue doesn't work. When I look up this issue on google I find dozens of forums about people having this problem when the game launched 12 years ago. The only solutions I have found are for the same issues on consoles and none of them have worked for me. If this was a problem a decade ago and Rockstar still hasn't fixed it then it should not be available on the store.

Here's a list of things I keep seeing in this game that are way too terrifying:

Larva infected wolf spiders
Regular wolf spiders
A carcass infested spider nest
Giant blood sucking mosquitoes
"Failed to log in to Xbox Live"
A giant bloodthirsty Koi fish
An army of fire ants

Not to mention that the building is so rudimentary that you can only place the basic square walls diagonally but nothing else.

Overall it's survival/crafting mechanics are really lame, and the logging into Xbox thing is really annoying and unnecessary.

But as an adventure game, Grounded stands along some of the best in a long list of great titles from Obsidian. The premise is ambitious but sets the stage to execute the most original and creative level-design a video game has had in many years. It is a very immersive and rewarding adventure experience overall, with many enticing sites waiting around the corner.

It's not a very good survival game, but it is a great adventure game.
9/10

I've played it through several different states over the years, and it's finally the game I've wanted it to be. The progression system has always been really interesting, the quests are rewarding, and with the amount of friends I play it with there are so many zombies always wandering around that it feels like a real apocalypse.

Now the engine and the visuals are much better optimized too. The blood moons don't hammer the FPS (as long as you have a decent machine) and the game is much nicer to look at. Once upon a time it was kind of painful to look at, the color scheme was so ugly.

There's detailed progression, interesting quests, solid gunplay and the engine is finally optimized. If you have a group of friends looking for a fun survival game, you will all have a blast with this one.

It's what Anthem was supposed to be, only no jetpacks.

It can be a fun casual game or sweaty try-hard experience power gaming the higher difficulties with your friends. The level design is really interesting, the environments are always healthy mixes of pretty and spooky. There's a lot of different kinds of huge insectoid enemies that have different weaknesses. Lots of mission types with different objectives and lots of ways to outfit each of the four playable classes makes for a very replayable looter-shooter.
