Though underrated and often dismissed for its fan service (I won't deny getting a prompt for 'OMG breast jiggle' option unlocked had me in stitches) and DLC practices (over 1,000 EUR worth of DLC really is pretty out there, even if almost everything is purely cosmetics), DOALR is a very fun and mechanically sound fighting game, with cool characters, very diverse fighting styles, a variety of game modes, and impressive stages, which are not just backdrops but fully part of the fight.

The first SoulCal on Steam and a good return to form for the series after the not so well received SCV.

The classic roster is back for the most part. Gameplay is smooth and responsive, probably the best since SCII if not for the insufferable Reversal Edge. Single player contents are extensive, with a story for each character and an RPG-like mode for created characters.

However, the tight budget shows in many aspects. Presentation is cheap overall, with the plot playing out primarily through 2D drawings and voiceovers. Character models are recycled from the previous gen. Stages are few and some of them look very generic.

The concept is interesting, but I don't think it works well in practice.

You can recognise every kana at once and still not do well, simply because matching blocks can take several rounds to come and when they finally do their match already has other stuff on top.

The only way I see this ever working is either having matches limited to certain Kana (e.g. Ka row, Ra row, etc) or getting an algorythm ensuring that matches are never very far off, otherwise you'll quickly find yourself with piles on piles of unmatching blocks.

Good game, the best of the three in my view. Although server issues hamper the enjoyment for some and the grind is a bit over the top at times, never was the Krypt this engaging or the characters this lively and fun to play with. DLC characters have been top-notch as well, making this the best iteration of most of the roster to date.

Fun action game spread out in an immense world. Gorgeous graphics and varied mechanics. Not very strong narrative-wise, but very enjoyable for anyone looking to unwind.

One of the most entertaining games out there. Loads of fun against the AI, even better in multiplayer. Great gameplay, graphics and soundtrack. Matches are short (5 minutes + goal repeats), so it's great for anyone wanting to game in a short break. Plus, it has a great price and new features keep getting added! Overall, an excellent game!

The first game I refunded on Steam. Tried it but just didn't find it fun and after 23 minutes of gameplay realised I'd be unlikely to ever play it again. Also, the graphics look really dated and just plain ugly.

Not worth it, very short on contents. And strangely the DLC characters' ultimate attacks are even available for everyone...
