No. Just no. Unfoldering the tech trees is just a bad way of increasing the grind required to get to top tier. Even though I don't have top tier vehicles, this is just a greedy way of doing things. That and the part where the developers hardly listen to public feedback makes this "game" more of a "screw you, got mine" attitude from the developer.

How should I begin....

I think this game has it's ups and downs:
Ups:
Free to Play (Mostly). You can grind all the way up from WWII vehicles, to Current Gen Vehicles
Combined Arms Battles. You can fly in a plane in a tank battle, or ship battle. Kinda makes the game more dynamic, as compared to WoT, WoWS
Events: There's historical events from time to time, and the occasional meme event
Different play modes: There's 3 main modes (kinda), Arcade, Realistic & Simulation. These kinda scale up in terms of the learning curve (even though Arcade and Realistic have their own difficulties in its own right.

Mehs:
Damage Model. Game Developer has done a tremendous job of featuring accurate damage models, but there are some instances where you should've not gotten the kill (or have survived being shot), likely due to volumetric and small gaps in the armor model. It is akin to cheating death, or getting lucky, when you should've been dead

Downs:
Extremely grindy. If you are a free to play gamer and wish to instantly go up to the Abrams, Leopards, don't even bother. Well, on one hand, you do need to learn the basic mechanics of the game (best to do at low tier), I do still find it too grindy. I started playing WT circa 2013, when there was still the double xp for first win for each nation.
Some pay-to-win/pay for advantage vehicles. There are some vehicles that are outright broken/imbalanced, with regards to their Battle Rating (BR), such as Pak Puma, XP-50, KA-50, and it takes forever/a long time for their BR to be updated. The converse is true as well - It used to take some time for underperforming vehicles to be buffed/lowered, usually after a knee-jerk reaction to a newly released vehicle.
Unforgiving Skill Curve. Since War Thunder is based on realism. there is no concept of Hit Points: usually you die being one-shotted. Therefore beginners to the game may find it difficult, as they would need to know, rather in depth, their vehicle's strengths and weaknesses, more so than the average WoT/WoWS player in my experience. This kinda adds on to the prevalence of seal clubbing, where some players will only play the best vehicle in the BR in order to farm their K/D ratio.
Overcompression. What this means is that the Battle Ratings are too close together - some supersonic jets and fight against subsonics, and some WWII tanks (famously the Maus) could fight against post war tanks. Game developer has mentioned that decompression will increase wait times, but I would think that a fun experience is worth waiting over an experience that sets you up with dread.

TLDR: Game is fun, don't stress too much time/patience over wanting to get the latest vehicle. Much more fun if you do play occasionally, as opposed to trying to grind down/spading the tree

This game is a "If southern redneck america had a zom-pig apocalypse" simulator.

You have (up to 6) rednecks wildly firing guns, with Michael Bay styled explosions in the foreground.

Did I even mention it does not have overpriced DLC?

If I had a dollar for everytime I'd recommend this game, I'd still buy the s*** out of this.

Perfect 5/7, would shoot the pig (read: farmer) over and over again!

PS: This game would deserve the 'best use of farm animals' award, go vote for it!
