I only just found the series today, but... they do not disappoint. The questions are uncomfortable, the thinking is even more so, but... we are all human in the end. And it sure gave me some things to think about, even if only for a little while.

My secret words:
1) Blessing
2) Stranger
3) Skilled

I had heard of Sea of Thieves for a while now, but only now got it on Steam because a bunch of my friends had it and wanted to play it together. At first glance, it looked like Ship Sailing Simulator; grab a bunch of people, steer a boat from island to island, ???, profit. However, this was not the case.

Sea of Thieves is, at its core, a PIRATE simulator. That means that whatever you do, it can and will likely be stolen from you by cackling players one ship over, potentially for no other reason besides they wanted something easy to hunt.

This, of course, frustrated me immensely. How dare they steal my hard earned loot? How dare they just come over and ruin my day for no good reason? And I almost said I hated the game. I almost put it in the pile of "I guess I'll play this sometimes" games. But then I started to realize the most important thing, which I cannot emphasize enough:

This is PIRATE SIMULATOR.

Once you wrap your head around that fact, the game becomes immediately ten times better. You stop fearing your loot will be stolen and instead prepare for it. You stop running from other crews, instead loading the cannons and preparing for combat if they dare fire first. You start to learn when to fire and when to hold, allowing the default sloop with a panicked captain sail by while sending the Reaper that chased you for five islands straight right to the bottom of the sea.

If you're interested in this game, I suggest making sure you know how to lose with grace, as you will lose quite a bit. Remember, this is PvPvE, meaning that both the environment AND other players will be able to attack and kill you. If you're only here for the PvE, I still suggest brushing up on your PvP skills, since you can't turn that off. And remember. This is Pirate Simulator, not Ship Sailing Simulator. Plundering loot from others is a valid strategy, and naval combat is an essential part of the game.

TL:DR, Good game for sailing with friends, just remember that other players exist and your loot would look good on their ship.

I've had this game for a while now, and I always come back to it, even when I've ran off with other games. The difficulty of the game scales fairly well, if getting a bit crazy once a few more bosses are unlocked. The challenges allow for a different style of play that challenges the player, as well as just overall being more difficult than the main game.

I definitely recommend this game for any fan of roguelikes or bullet hells (as this game can dabble in with certain bosses). It's difficult, very replayable, and has a nice "creepy-cute" aesthetic to go along with it.

I found this game through a couple Indie Youtubers, and I can't say I regret it! The game itself seems simple at its core, with a basic objective system of "get this, bring it here" for quite a few missions. However, the real charm of the game comes from geting deeper into it and exploring the lore of the world and discovering what's happening together. The ambiance of the game is generally more unsettling than scary, though watching one of the enemies walk right past you, knowing you are a few pixels away from it grabbing you is a good tension builder.

I will admit, the missions can get rather repetitive at times, and if you don't like playing with other people (or just get anxious about it) leveling up is much slower than if it is played in a group. I recognize this, but I still believe that the game is worth playing.

If you want to check out the game, I'd reccomend getting a few friends together or going to the Discord to find groups. As I said, it can be a bit repetitive, but the lore of the world as well as playing with friends keeps me coming back!
