The game is £25 upfront, and then the game expects me to pay MORE to play with my friend online? I would love to know the psychiatrist of the guy who gave that a pass at Gears for Breakfast... because I don't think you could've made a worse decision in your LIFE.

Alright, I'm gonna split this review into two. A short version and a long version.

Short Version: This game has been through a lot, but it's in a solid place as of 17/11/2024 (UK date format, deal with it.) and is definitely a great game to play with friends. I wouldn't recommend throwing more money at the game because frankly SONY don't deserve their cut of the profits - that and you can get Super Credits by just playing the game. Do I recommend it? Yes.

Long Version: I think a lot of people who are reading the reviews are aware of the controversy this game went through earlier this year. Arrowhead had some bad eggs running the show, and SONY was trying to force PSN accounts on non-PS users. Just your average afternoon at SONY HQ. Well as much as they've thankfully thrown that plan out the window, they've still locked 177+ countries out of playing this game anyway. Bad SONY.

But... if you're outside of those countries, you can quite freely play this game with no issues. And the gameplay is solid, especially now that the huge balance changes have been made, and the right people are now in control at Arrowhead. I don't however think the game deserves any more money than the entry fee. You can grind Super Credits at a reasonable pace by just playing the game, and I'd recommend that... as much as Arrowhead are good guys, SONY don't deserve their cut of profits. So buy the game and grind the rest is my recommendation. (EDIT: As of December 2024, SONY once again have tried to fleece people of money in a very predatory manner with their latest collaboration with Killzone. Implementing literal FOMO that totalled to the cost of SIX Warbonds worth of SC. So it's not all sunshine and rainbows. The latter half of the superstore stuff has been given out for free, but they really should take more responsibility for their actions.)

Is it worth getting right now? Yeah I'd say so. It's better with friends, but you can solo quite comfortably if that's more your bag. As for the warbonds... you'll have to be the judge on which ones are worth getting, but fair warning some of them are NOT worth your time. Chemical Agents namely. (Just buy Freedom's Flame...)

Overall a solid game, made by devs that actually care. A rare find these days sadly.
