tl;dr: game fun, game pretty, slight problems, store bad, battle pass mixed

Infinite's multiplayer combines the best parts of the Bungie and 343 Halo games. The movement of Halo 4 and parts of 5, with the equipment system of Halo 3, and a nice mingling of the gunplay of both of them. And it's not a bad looker, either. While I never actually despised the art style of 4 and 5, I thought it was far too great a departure from the original and Infinite's style sees somewhat of a return to it. It's not a complete return to Bungie's style, but an evolution of it with 343's own spin, which I do like.

The core experience is just as stellar as many of the other Halo games. Fighting over power weapons is fun and tense as people run for them at the start of matches. And the new equipment they've given us to play with adds so much to the thrill of it. Not much compares to grapple-hooking an enemy Spartan and flying towards him so you can slice them with an energy sword. Or popping their shields before splattering them against a wall with the repulsor. Or blocking the incoming grenade of an enemy with a drop wall. Or jumping back from an enemy with a gravity hammer using the thrusters. Or the... threat sensor. Alright that's a bit lackluster but the rest are very fun to use, even though the grapple hook obviously steals the show.

But not everything is perfect. The lack of player collision in regular game modes feels odd, to say the least, and something I wish would return. Similarly, the removal of friendly fire from casual games, while understandable, does feel a little bit odd. It means that players don't have to think as much when they're engaging with enemies since there's no worry about hitting teammates. Some might enjoy this, others may hate it. Me? I'm on the fence.

And it's no secret that the progression system is in need of work, though as of now they have announced they are working on adjusting that, which is very good for the future of the game. Similarly, while I'm not a fan of battle passes, 343's approach to them in that they never expire and can be bought and worked towards at any point is a very good design choice. It eliminates much of the FOMO aspects that other games have.

But the cost of certain armor pieces and colors in the store is rather ridiculous, to say the least. Not only that, but the new armor coating system is rather annoying. It wants to be similar to Destiny's shader system, but it has all of the baggage of that system with little of the perks, at least right now. I would much rather the coating system be used for different patterns and camos on armor and allow the colors to be customized freely. I would also rather there not be so many pieces of armor locked in the store.

The armor core system, while not a bad idea on paper, is also somewhat frustrating. Because if I like a chest piece from, say, the Mark VII core, but the helmet of a Mark V core, I can't wear them together. Additionally, the coating system suffers here, as well, since coatings only apply to certain armor cores. While these issues do not hurt the moment-to-moment gameplay experience, they do hurt the overall experience.

Despite these flaws, I would definitely recommend this game if you're at all interested in FPS games. I'd advise against buying into any of the cash shop items until the issues of pricing and customization are addressed.

A game that's very much worth going into totally blind. Or as blind as can be, at this point. Dunno why I never recommended it before but better late than never. Gameplay is fairly simplistic but the experience is truly unique.

If nothing else, play it for the music. Please for God's sake listen to the music if you love yourself. Even if you hate yourself, listen to the music.

The time I have on steam is nothing compared to the years I've spent playing the Halo games. And this is all of them (except 5) brought together as one. Literally some of the best first person shooters ever created. Why the hell haven't you bought it yet? Buy it.

Sunk so many hours of my life into this game, it's unreal. The amount of possibilities in the game are wild with the reputation system between characters and factions, the in-game economy being real time, the honor system, your fame in the world, it all works together to make a wonderful work to battle in and conquer. Conquer with a great directional combat system using actual physics to determine your damage, factoring in the speed of you, your enemy, your swing, it's absolutely insane.

I'd wager this is definitely one of my favorite games ever made. Thank you, Taleworlds. And with Bannerlord now only hours away from release, I leave this review, finally. Thank you. For we've made it to Harvesting Season.

Yeah I've barely put any time into it but I don't want to put any more time into this ridiculously overly difficult platformer

Why would you put falling damage in a game like this
Why is the soundtrack so ear grating half the time
Why are there obstacles within 2 inches of the spawn

Why is this game

By creating a race of hyper-religious angler-fish people, I ended up making The Covenant from Halo by allying with an empire called the Quenti Forerunners, building a ring world, vassalizing humanity, and forming a Covenant with a mysterious otherworldly force.
10/10

But in seriousness the game is an absolute joy to play. Hard to get into at first because there's a lot of systems to worry about, but once you get into the swing of things, the feeling of commanding your own empire and ruling it however you see fit is amazing. Forging alliances, breaking them, enslaving races, saving others, ending up as a vassal yourself only to break away and start a massive galactic war because all you wanted was freedom but you caused a chain reaction. There's no real limit to the amount of things that can happen and the stories you can create in the game are absolutely phenomenal.

Total War: Warhammer isn't the most in-depth of the Total War games, I'll admit it. I also own Attila and I'll say Attila is far more in depth and complex than Warhammer.

That being said, it does not mean that Warhammer is a bad game. Far from it. Warhammer is absolutely amazing. What you get instead of very in-depth politics, diplomacy, and city management, is a highly fun and addictive battle system. The visuals on the campaign map and the battlefields alike are gorgeous, ready to be littered with the bodies of the men of your armies and the armies of your foes alike.

Instead of the traditional Light - Heavy units in previous games, you get specific unit types, each with their own weaknesses. Great weapon infantry will easily be able to crush regular, often shielded infantry. However, they won't be able to advance on missile troops without being riddled with arrows or bullets. So there is still a great deal of thinking that has to go into composing your army. Especially with the monstrous units, which can range from trolls, to giants, to undead dragons, to daemonic manticores.

Speaking of which, let's go into how unique each faction feels. As they are all incredibly distinct:

The Empire is the most basic familiar faction to Total War, so it's recommended that you start out as them. They play essentially as you would expect with no real special tricks added to them. Though their unit roster is interesting, with Demigryph cavalry that wreak havoc on infantry, and steam tanks that can devestate opponents from afar.

There are the Dwarfs, who are also a good starting point. Though they lack cavalry, and due to a certain height disadvantage, are often slow. But they have qutie a few flying units; Gyrocopters that can bomb enemies and swoop down to deal some major damage and soften up units. They also have a feature called "The Book of Grudges," which requires you to get revenge on enemies quickly, as the more grudges that pile up, the more penalties you will face. Ex: One of your armies is attacked and defeated, you will get a "Grudge" that orders you to defeat that lord's army. The longer it remains, the worse relations you'll have with other Dwarf factions, and public order will gradually lower.

There's the Greenskins, who are incredibly savage in both a lore sense, and a gameplay sense. If Greenskin armies do not fight for a while, their "Fightiness" meter will go down. If it reaches a certain low level, they will start suffering attrition, as soldiers will begin fighting each other. With more veteran armies, it's easier to manage, but fresh armies cannot simply sit around, they have to go out and fight. They've got quite a few monsters at their disposal; Trolls, giants, and even giant spiders.

Vampire Counts are one of the more unique ones, in the sense that they cannot simply march through enemy territory. They have to make sure the province their in has enough Vampiric Corruption, or else they will suffer attrition. This can be done by sending agents into the province, or by attacking a nearby, unguarded town and capturing it. Likewise, units of other, non-vampire armies will suffer attrition in lands that have a certain level of Vampiric corruption. Lords also have unique ability called "Raise the Dead" which allows them to instantly recruit units, often after a battle and some units have fallen is this a good idea. They've got all the kind of units you'd expect from an undead army; Flying, monstrous bat creatures, zombies, skeletal knights, and those previously mentioned undead dragons that lords and heroes can ride upon.

Bretonnia, a Free-LC faction that is essentially France with Arthurian legend. They have a Chivalry system which will provide them benefits for chivalrous acts, like burning down the settlement of non-humans such as Greenskins. However, Chivalry can be lost by doing things such as sacking settlements, or setting armies into raiding positions. As expected with a faction that has Arthurian influences, they are reliant on a lot of knights, very cavalry heavy faction. The downside of this is that their infantry is incredibly weak. Very low leadership and easily broken, though their archers can do a good bit of damage from afar. Early game they are challenging, but getting cavalry later game makes things a good bit easier.

The Warriors of Chaos, an actual DLC faction, that I did get for free because I bought the game during the first week. Personally my favorite, but that's because I like the aesthetic, and being evil. The only DLC faction that I'll include here because I do not own the others. They are a Horde faction, they are unable to conquer any settlements. They can either sack them, or raze them to the ground. They are also able to "Awaken" certain Norscan Tribes (Think Vikings, but instead of worshipping Oden and the Aesir, they worship daemons hellbent on destroying the world) to act as their military allies after defeating certain settlements near their starting position. They are quite a challenge initially, as armies cannot be too close to each other, or they'll suffer attrition, as they'll fight each other. They can also spread Chaos corruption in provinces, like Vampiric corruption, that will cause non-chaos armies to suffer attrition. Unlike Vampire armies, however, they can walk on non-corrupted lands, though they are also affected by Vampiric corruption. Their units range from Vikings, to armor clad warriors with skulls adorning their helms, to daemonic manticores, to chaos corrupted dwarfs operating artillery that fires eldritch bolts.

TL;DR: It's fun. Reccomend for any Total War fan, any Warhammer fan who enjoys the End Times, when this takes place, and grand strategy games. Unique factions. Slightly simplified overall. Great graphics. Terrific sound. Fun.

Updated version here: ♥♥♥♥ this game. There's been no updates for a year, the devs have entirely abandoned it and haven't even said anything. There's still a handful of people playing if you're absolutely desperate for a Warhammer 40K third person shooter. But honestly just play Space Marine instead. It's way better.

Old review here, before all hope was lost:

Now, don't take my not recommending as me disliking the game.

Far from it, I personally enjoy the game, but I wouldn't recommend it right now.

Pros:
There's a fair bit of balance between melee and ranged combat, which is something that's pretty important for a 40K game, and both systems feel pretty solid, though the melee could use a bit of fine tuning still.
Both PVP and PVE elements in the game, and they're both fun to play with.
The game looks fairly good. Certainly no Witcher 3, but considering there can be dozens of players in a single game, it's pretty decent looking.
40K.

Cons:
A lot of features are missing. The open world element is completely canned, Actually conquering territories is no more. Among a few other things.
Balance issues, Eldar feel immenselve overpowered, and Space Marines feel slightly underpowered.
Glitches. There are glitches, stuttering issues, sound problems galore. Way more than there should be considering it was in Early Access so long.
The dreaded word all gamers hate: Microtransactions (Granted, they're cosmetic, but they're still loathesome.)

Now does that mean the game is necessarily bad? Not in my opinion. I find the game to be a good bit of fun, not something to sit down and play for hours upon hours, but something to hop in, playing a couple of matches, then hop off. As I said, the combat is fun, and the 40K aspect certainly does add some charm to it.

But, I do NOT think it's worth the money in its current state. $50 is to much for a buggy game that's been stripped of many of its promised features. Now, the developers did say that they would implement at least some of these features as time goes on, but if that is true, then best to simply wait for it. By then, the game will be more complete, polished, or at least have a bit of a price drop.

TL;DR: Not worth it for now, wait for a while, then pick it up.

A phenomenal game in every sense of the word.

Beautiful graphics, fantastic story, beloved characters, fluid combat. Easily one of the greatest RPGs ever made.
