Game is fun but when you play on prestige difficulties you feel like you no longer have any control and you can only count on some luck. There is simply too much randomness and it makes it extremely frustrating.

Overview

Considering this is not the next fully fledged release of a "Men of War" series I am pleasantly surprised by the quality and content put in this product. I am glad that this game got voice overhaul so if you select a specific unit it will respond appropriately to its type, so no more kübelwagen crew randomly shouting "load HE shell!". Moreover, this game feels more like "Robz realism mod" from the graphical and destruction point of view while still maintaining the mechanics we know from previous games (except Cold War and Arena ofc).
Some players complain about the lack of nations you can fight against. Instead as of now with 2 DLCs we get to play as Finnish forces and we can access lend-lease equipment as Soviets. You might be familiar with Katyusha, but have you heard about her sister Andryusha? That's how rich Arsenal in this game is. There is also a possibility in multiplayer to choose the period of war we want to fight in so we can fight with early war equipment without the need to deal with heavy tanks every single battle.

Gamemodes

The campaign is pretty enjoyable as far as it is not a stealth mission. I don't know if it is just me, but I really can't stand them it is just a save-and-load game fest. Some defending missions on the other hand were truly epic and required a lot of tactical planning and micromanagement. Besides scripted campaign game offers dynamic campaign. It allows the player to choose a side, build a deck of units using the amount of money based on chosen difficulty and fight subsequent battles where you earn money and research points you can spend to unlock new units and even an airstrike.

New mechanics

As it is a Call to Arms DLC it naturally shares some similarities in in-game mechanics. There are 2 modes of direct control, It's possible to aim down sights in tanks, guns, and even with a sniper rifle. Interestingly enough those sights look different from each other. One little detail I am thankful for is when a soldier is carrying an AT weapon there will be an icon above his head. A cool addition is the possibility to build foxholes and to be honest you may disagree, but I am happy you cannot build long trenches lines like in Men of War: Arena they were to OP. Lastly, artillery is firing one shell at a time so you do not have to wait 2 minutes to reload and miss your target with quick 5 shots.

Flaws

I did not encounter any major bugs and AI is not perfect, but much better than before, using cover could be improved as soldiers will always face the other way you want in the trenches. Path-finding is better, but could still use some work.

Final verdict

All in all the game is great. I like it. 10/9.

This game does all the things other war games can't. Why can't we have more of such games?

it's a great game if you hate micromanaging workers and army at the same time.

Early Access Review
If you like Arma 3 or m&b buy it! The bots are very smart and the game at current state looks way better than any of the other EA game. Developers definitely put a lot of love making this game.

The game is great so great. It's so simple, but it's also so fun and limitless. You can play it long hours non stop. It even has level editor and a huge map, vechicles tons of weapons so you basiclly you have endless possibilities. I would also add it's the only game where you have smart teammates who focus on objective.

I am really disappointed Paradox. I hope m&b: bannerlord won't have that DLC's policy.
