I love playing hard games, Elden ring, Darkest dungeon, GTFO, Deadspace on permadeath. I did not enjoy this.
Remnant 2 has bosses and encounters that i cant help but think were made with mainly co op in mind. Such as the dreaded CUBE!!! boss. Many bosses have either attacks that will down you in one hit or expect you to have someone else to take the heat off you. Leading to a feeling... almost like your missing something. But it goes beyond just bosses. The moment to moment fights in Remnant 2 are as in the first very well done and a great take on souls like with guns, but its everything else that gets in the way. Most times after i take down a few rooms of baddies i'm greeted with a puzzle that puts a dead-stop to the action and combat. Depending if you enjoy puzzles, the first time you see them you might enjoy them. The problem is they can either be a roadblock or in some cases downright punishing. For all the hard locations and hidden walls in Elden ring I never felt like a puzzle was shoved in my face with a gun to my head. This on top of the bosses makes the game feel like a chore to push past rather than a challenge to overcome.
There are a few more things i could talk about, weapons, locations or lackluster story but i think all of those are minor issues that most people could look past. For me its the core of the game that doesn't click. I cannot recommend it for anyone who was like me, looking for another difficult and engaging game to play solo, or looking for more Remnant 1.
