Aside from the cutscenes and some of the voice acting that I think are just better directed overall in the original, this is as perfect as a remake could get. Plenty of new content and changes made, but still remarkably faithful to the horror experience of the original game. Love the 2 new endings.

Many compare this game with DDLC, and I think doing so is a massive disservice to both games. Yes there are similarities in how the story breaks the 4th wall, but the way they accomplish it can't be more different. DDLC pushes the limit of what can be achieved outside of its confines as a VN, while this game pushes for what is possible within it.

Both are brilliant in their own way and you will have a great time if you go into this enjoying it for what it is rather than comparing it to what it isn't.

Yes, the uncensored patch is absolutely vital to the plot. And no, for once this is not me on copium.

A great game with tons of mysteries and plot twists. Very satisfying progression and endings. Can be a little buggy at times with dialogue choices not reflecting past experiences.

Not as great as Automata, but still very good.

8/10. Would get depression again.

When the game offers you new ways to grind, it's not a suggestion. It's a requirement.

Without any spoilers, make sure you are at least:
- Level 45-50 by Chapter 12
- Level 60-65 by the Finale
You'll have a much better time if you keep this in mind, trust me.

Good game. 7/10

Pros:
- The graphics, especially the lighting and shadows
- The solid, fun core gameplay
- Emphasis on more aggressive, risky playstyle which can lead to more intense, split-second decision making
- Nemesis is cool (for the first half)

Cons:
- The game is 6 HOURS LONG. This was for my first playthrough on Hardcore, with just under 30 deaths, and some wandering and backtracking to gather stuff
- Nemesis only chases you during scripted events
- Lazy boss fights. RE3's idea of a boss fight is to just make them a bullet sponge, and use the same exact boss fight, but then throw a bunch of zombies into the area to bite you in the ass also
- Cut and removed contents from the original game???
- Lazy level design, especially in the second half. Just throws 10 zombies blocking the door in 1 cramped room
- Virtually no puzzles, just fetch quests
- Carlos sections are not fun
- Classic costumes locked behind pre-order. RE2 included this for everyone, FOR FREE

Tldr; RE3 is a fun game, but overall feels like a lazy cash grab by Capcom to quickly make a profit off of the success of RE2. As a fan of the phenomenal RE2, I cannot recommend this game to anyone at full price. I'd recommend getting RE2 instead, if you haven't already and wait for a 50% off this one.

Story mode review:

Pros:
+ The graphics and animation. The level of detail is simply amazing.
+ The music, voice acting, and sound design
+ Has some of, if not, the best directed cutscenes I've seen in a game.
+ The cast of characters. Arthur Morgan is easily the best R* protagonist, period (on high honor playthrough, that is)
+ The incredible writing and story, especially chapter 6. Truly lives up to the name: Red Dead Redemption
+ The amount of content on offer: the lengthy story, stranger missions, side activities, etc. Finished the story in 60 hours and barely feels like I even scratched the surface of the contents available.

Cons:
+ The same old R* mission structure since GTA 4, ie. go to this part, watch a cutscene, do some stuff (90% consists of shooting people in the face), watch another cutscene, rinse and repeat.
+ Very limited freedom in how to tackle a mission, which most of the time boils down to kill people stealthily, or kill people loudly.
+ No innovations in the gameplay. Braindead melee combat.
+ Stupid/meaningless medal objectives, which mostly encourages you to rush through the missions. ???
+ Chapter 5.
+ Terrible inventory UI, clunky to navigate.
+ Zooming in/out the map requires scrolling the middle mouse 50 times. Who thought this was a good idea?
+ Can be buggy and clunky (eg. contextual actions, auto-pathing, crashes, etc.)
+ No incentives to be bad/low honor playthrough. Story and Arthur's development way less interesting.
+ Inconsistent cutscenes at times (in one cutscene, Arthur's saying he respects someone and want to do whatever he can to help. In the next, when that person asks for help, he says it's not his problem. ???)
+ R* Social Club
+ Locked contents behind special editions???

Tldr; RDR2 has many flaws, and is certainly not a perfect game by any means. But if you're looking for a masterclass experience in pretty much anything other than the gameplay, it is well worth the price tag.
