Destiny 2 Review

Pros
This game has probably the best gunplay I have ever seen. Everything is so satisfying to shoot has amazing balance with the movement.
If you want to play casually, almost every build you enjoy playing is viable and satisfying from lobbing grenades to throwing a blazing hammer into someones face.
And the content itself is huge. It took me almost 1k hours to get to the point where I don't have to log in every day to do stuff.

Cons
New player experience is god awful. Even after they reworked it to make it "new player friendly", unless you have someone to explain everything and guide you for a few weeks you will be lost and will just be blindly bumping your head in the dark.
The monetization system is somehow worse than the new player experience. You have to buy every expansion past to present and if you want to play the story you have to buy every season. The fact they advertise the game as "free to play" is laughable and every time someone asks me about it I say "It's more like a 2 hour demo" because it literally is all or nothing. If you don't get the legacy pack, you get locked out of half of the higher tier content, If you don't get the dungeon keys, you can't play the dungeons. If you don't get the season pass, you can't play the story missions. It is absolutely horrendous and I regret spending every cent.
The story feels like it was generated by ChatGPT. At least for the expansion that is. The seasonal story is still alright but definitely not worth the increased $15 for two missions the story being hidden in a lore tab wall of text.

P.S. Before anyone makes the "bad review after 1k hours" meme I just wanna say I genuinely did enjoy the game but the game went downhill so fast I still feel the whiplash

TL;DR
Don't buy this god-forsaken game you're better off playing something else

Update for POE and Fortuna
It's amazing what they did to this game. It might not be the standard open world experience people have gotten used to, but it's amazing nonetheless. Especially since they added Tony Hawk Pro Skater™ in Fortuna.

Honestly this is such an amazing game it surprises me that it's free to play.
Keep in mind that I played this game before the big update and made a break so coming back it had an impact on me.

Pros:
  • Movement
Honestly the movement in this game is so perfected I've played a lot of games after this one and they all feel so slow and tedious. Warframe has literally spoiled me.
  • No paywall
Yes you do have a currency you can buy with actual money. But what I love about DE is how they went about it. You can buy the platinum but you can also trade it. Plus the only stuff you can buy with this currency are either cosmetics or quality of life stuff that don't really affect gameplay. I bought a few of those items by trading for in-game currency.
  • Rewarding
Though this only depends on you. I found that the trick to enjoying this game is setting a goal of getting a warframe and working towards it so that when you put in the hard work you're actually rewarded for it.
  • Optimized*
One of the main reasons I picked up this game is because it can run on my God-awful laptop. So making it run on that is a big plus in my book.
*The differences between high and low settings are like day and night. I have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ laptop and sometimes I watch streamers play it on high settings just to enjoy it more.

Cons:
  • Grindy
This game can be really really grindy. And it may seem like they're out to get your money with some of the "rush construction" mechanics which can be really off-putting.
  • PvP
To be honest I've never done PvP in this game because after doing some research and watching videos it turns out that the PvP in this game is awfully unbalanced. My guess is due to the nature of the warframe concepts and the game itself. So if you were counting on playing PvP in Warframe I would listen to waht other people have to say first.
  • Learning curve
This game is a ♥♥♥♥♥ to pick up. At least it was when I started. Most of the information on how to play it comes from their fan wiki or the forums because the in-game explanations aren't very good.

Played TTT with random Brits. I've played a ♥♥♥♥ ton of online games but that was singlehandedly the best gaming experience I've ever had
100/10 would play with drunk Brits again

Keep in mind that this review isn't affected by nostalgia goggles since this was the first time reviewing this game.

This game deserves every praise it gets!

I started playing HL1 with a grain of salt because I knew the hype around it so I was a bit cautious. This game is amazing from it's gameplay to pacing and even AI. I becomes even more mind-blowing once you realize it was released in '98.
Thanks to this game and the whole franchise I've been cursing GabeN for not making HL3 since I finished HL1.
