I have been playing this game for just about 5,000 hours now on steam so I should have a good idea how the game plays out. I personally would recommend this game to anyone that is interested in space/sci-fi shooters. Its core mechanics including shooting and parkour work so well together and makes the game feel so fluid and personally is what always has me coming back when a big update hits the game. The purchasable ingame items in the marketplace are not too overzealous with the majority of the items usually being the cosmetics for the warframes that are reasonably priced. Most of the equipment that can be purchased for real money in most cases are not worth it because most of the materials and wait times out weigh the negatives to be worth the investment. If you decide to buy something with money spend it on cosmetics, catalysts, reactors, or warframe and weapons slots. Those are the most valuable things to buy especially for a new players. Another thing to applaud the game for is its mysterous story that keeps you wanting more. There is something special for a free to play game to have story missions and quests that makes me appreciate what free to play games have never done before. Some things that do bother me quite often though is the lack of information that is in the game itself and the uneventful boss fights. These two things though can be eventually written off as the developers have started to address these issues with more feedback in the UI and some of the well done boss fights like the recently added and tweaked Kela De Thaym and The Raptors boss fights. In my opinion these two bring more to the table rather than some of the others that they have done that were more or less just a 2-3 shot meat bag.
