I would highly recommend this game to anyone how is considering purchasing a fun and enjoyable survival, base building RPG type of game.

Firstly the developers of this game, though small in number ACTUALLY care about the games future and are dedicated to bug fixes, quality of life updates as well as additional content to either expand on what you can build in the game, to hostile mob behaviour, to even adding more bosses potentially in the future.

Secondly the game play is more than just emerisive. I have lost so many hours in game just souly being captivated by the scenery and sound track that perfectly complement each other to bring about probably the best Nordic/Viking like experience a game in the modern era has ever put on offer.

Thirdly, though the combat is lacking in some senses, it is more than fulfilling and works perfectly with its simplicity. The hostile encounters with mobs challenge a player in brand new ways in each different area either with added environmental pressures, like in the snow where if you are not properly equipped, you won't be able to stray far from your camp fire or base that you have set up. Or like in the swamps with the toxic gas that the slimes release and the bleeding effect that the leeches give you if you are not paying enough attention to the waters.

Overall this game is already fun and enjoyable, either with friends or not its still a good time. The game also still has room for improvement which is just an added bonus because its already in such a great state, with a development team that actually wants to see a fruitful lifespan of its game.

This game used to be good but is taking a large turn for the worst in terms of weapon balancing and operator balance. It started to decline in Operation White Noise with the Global abilities, and now its getting worse with balance updates that make old operators literally redundant and some guns non functional as the recoil is up scaled about 10x its original amount.

In addition, no new maps have really been created over the 5 - 6 year period of the game that actually have any substance as a competitive map. Usually they are all relegated to casual after a season, or you will get a "remade" map of an old ♥♥♥♥♥♥ map instead of actually refreshing content.

Overall there have been SOME small changes to gameplay for the better, however overall they have taken to long to come to fruition and the game is still filled with these minor problems as well as major ones (cheaters) that are still currently unresolved in its 6 year lifetime so far.

I would only seriously buy this game if you want to gamble that Ubisoft devs care about the actual gameplay and the community rather than the ingame monitization though skins and cosmetics.

UPDATE***
The Y6S2 Dev Team AMA has not really addressed any of the core issues besides another mention of combating cheating, and a rework (again for about the 3rd time) to the MMR and ranked match making system.

Other than that they are STILL dedicated to re-working maps that are currently in the game, supposedly for the better but I am very doubtful of this. And I did not notice any mentions of new competitive maps being added.

They did mention new maps being added as they are developing new maps in a new "Hybrid" setting, reworking old maps at the same time as creating new ones. The new maps though however are predicted to take a full year to develop, which is a good thing however I feel that it has come way to late into the games life.


Edit: Game is still terrible

Ever since they attempted to copy Valorant and add bloom to the game its turned into an RNG ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and is no where near as good as it used to be.

Wasted about 30 hours of my life with this contentless game filled with toxic uber nerds.
