[EDITED FOR FOUNDATION UPDATE]

Yeah, I have over 60 hours and, somehow, I'm mostly enjoying my time.

However, you can't argue that this is kind of a broken, unfinished game and certainly not for everyone. Every planet that you visit makes you less impressed with the lack of variety. You soon realize that everything is repetitive and superficial. There's no consequences and no sense of progress. Technically, things are not good either. Frame rates are atrocious. The game still rarely crashes or get sluggish for no reason. Texture and geometry pop-ins left and right.

It's worth noting that some announced features never made into the game. For instance, there was never a solar system simulation in place. Clearly these planets were never intended to rotate or orbit on each other. There is a sky box with a fake sun rotating around each solar system and you can't travel seamlessly through the whole galaxy. Weather, temperature, terrain, life forms and pretty much everything is entirely random.

Some people spend dozens of hours in this game not because there's a lot to do. It's just that everything that you do takes a lot of your time.

Still, you might be surprised by the gorgeous visuals and the delicious sound design. The Atlas interfaces are awesome. The weather effects are scary and convincing. When I ride my spaceship I feel like I'm relying on a tin can going through a harsh environment. Exploring caves and underwater are an out-of-this-world experience. There's something about being able to travel freely from planet to planet and see what they have and how they look like. Is that what I enjoy? Really, I can't tell. There's a subconscious tickle that I can't really explain.

Nevertheless, I would recommend the game itself - on a sale - if the developer was completely straight about its shortcomings. But that was not the case. Don't send money to dishonest people.

[FOUNDATION UPDATE]

Base building: Now you can build a base to your heart's content, much like Subnautica. You can only build on some predefined spots that need to be located. The building process goes fine for large structures but becomes finicky when dealing with small objects. In a game about exploration, there seems to be little point in owning a fixed settlement (you can have only one at a time). You do get virtually infinite storage space and resource farming and you need to "hire" alien companions to research new items and blueprints for you. You can build your own trading terminal. Your new friends have the same models and animations found on the original game, but they speak english this time, for some reason. You can also "teleport" between your base and the last visited space station and your spaceship goes along with you somehow (but wouldn't spawn on your personal landing pad).

Freighters: The large static freighters found on the original game can now be purchased for large sums of money. They provide about the same storage capacity of any spaceship and you can land inside them. You need to be on its bridge to transfer goods between your spaceship and your freighter's inventory. You can magically spawn them on the sky of your current planet (NPC spaceships travelling around will glitch through). And that's it.

Others: There were some marked improvements over the terrible texture and geometry that suddenly pops into view, but they are still there. Some models and textures got a remake, which isn't always a good thing. You can find out about a planet's main resource deposits before landing on them. You can deploy some gadgets to do a save point, a custom waypoint, to find nearby outposts or a new habitable base. Last but not least, there's a new quick access function to charge or repair your gadgets on the spot.

Conclusion: The core of the game remains largely the same, including its worse flaws. And I did not forget the developer's outright untruthfulness.

The best experience of your life

That`s right there the best game ever for PC forever. You can`t go wrong with Deus Ex. No sequel, prequel, clone, inspiration, spiritual successor and whatnot could ever dream to match its supremacy. That is indeed the GOD of games, including every known category and platform.

That said, don't ever mod this game. Do not tamper with its currently perfect state. It shall never be rebooted, remastered or re-imagined. Because even those people who did it could ever reproduce the same level of success afterwards. It's like their hands were guided by something else. It is ideal the way it is. Even it's "flaws" were imperative in keeping the cohesion of this piece of artwork.

I was blessed with the godsend honor and infinite landscapes of joy by playing this game right on its launch date. Had many playthroughs throughout my life since them. And once I start, I cannot focus in anything else until its conclusion.
