Will provide context as to how the game ran for me and with which parts. In regards to the actual story and gameplay, this title is stellar.

So I waited 6 months for the game to be fixed before purchasing, and even though they never fully addressed any of the issues, the overall experience was better than expected.

Relevant hardware used:
i7 13700K at 5.3 GHz on all P cores, 4.2 GHz on all E cores
RTX 3080 FE 10 GB (undervolted to 0.9V targetting 1950 MHz core, 9500 MHz memory)
32 GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 @ 6000 MHz CL40
Installed on a 2 TB Samsung 870 Evo
GP27Q monitor at 1440p 165 Hz and HDR enabled

I realize that this machine is still moderately high end, but I was worried about the shader compiling, crashes, and general poor performance. I did not use any form of ray tracing.

Indeed, maxing out all settings results in less than ideal numbers, albeit still playable.

After optimizing settings to a mix of medium, high, and ultra, as well as enabling DLSS on balanced, I would see an average of 100 fps outdoors and well over 140 indoors. Motion blur was a bit of a pain to configure in order to make it enhance the experience instead of smearing everything, but its possible.

I experienced absolutely 0 crashes throughout an entire playthrough.
GPU, pegged at 99% usage as expected, never went over 63 C. Definitely aided by a rather aggressive but stable undervolt profile I apply with afterburner (Around 230W usage).

VRAM usage hovered around 6 GB, and I never experienced any significant slowdown. If anything, my 99% frames were always only 3-5 lower than my current and average amounts.

Some tweaking to the HDR menu was required to match my monitor's DCI-P3 color space and 1600 nit white point. After that, HDR was not that impactful, but not unrealistic. It looked perfectly natural, which is probably an even better outcome.

In conclusion, without meaning to discard or invalidate the issues experienced by other players with their own machines, the game ran wonderfully. After the first 2 hours I stopped using my performance overlay and just enjoyed the experience.

It's worrying that such components and know-how are required now just to have the expected enjoyment from a $60 game. Little Timmy with his new entry level gaming laptop on Christmas will probably not have such a nice time. That said, the quality of the story and visuals can't be ignored if you can get everything to run nicely. An ideal scenario would be for this port to be optimized further to ensure compatibility with most hardware.

Not letting anyone in the castle sleep as I cast Revelio every 5 seconds, breaking into their rooms and chests while they're right there is the ultimate Harry Potter experience.

Really falls short, coming from LiS 1&2.
DONTNOD have done some really good work with the engine, giving the game a realistic, but still stylized look.

The story is extremely slow paced, even for a storytelling game. I went into it knowing each chapter is anywhere from 3-5 hours long, and after 2 hours that only discouraged me further.

Yes, I think it's admirable that they're trying to educate people about the challenges of being transgender. No, I don't think treating the player and other characters within the story as ignorant troglodytes, aggressively and condescendingly is the right way to do it. Calling a man "Antiquated" for trying to lend a hand to a single mother with twins?
If he had just turned a blind eye to her struggles, then they would've complained about that, too. Make up your minds. $50 that at least one of your screenwriters has neon pink hair.

You've introduced a lot of other controversial topics into your games. We already expect it. They add flavor, stakes, and emotional investment to them. This, however, is an actual detriment to the story you're trying to tell.

I'm still looking forward to LiS 3. Tell your story. I felt infuriated on Sean and Daniel's behalf on 2 when they'd get discriminated. That's the feeling you want to achieve. Frustration after the 500th time something about the LGTVOLED+ community is mentioned? That's a no-no. You're not educating and spreading love. You're teaching more people to hate.

To end this in a positive note, the character models and general layout of the scenes was great. It made me want to keep playing, if only to keep sightseeing for a little longer.

While the early game is an absolute nightmare, and it took me around 25-30 hours to get well equipped and be able to start exploring the map freely, as well as completing any sidequests, errands, or side objectives I felt like, I can confidently write that this game is a positive experience, and totally worth completing at least one time.

After that terrible first third of the game, the combat really does become enjoyable however, and its flexibility keeps it fun and allows the player to adapt to their own playstyle.

The main story line is interesting and motivates further play, albeit being a bit slow paced.

The visuals and the map are beautiful. Sometimes I'd slowly head over to objectives instead of fast-traveling just to enjoy the trip. The sound design is great, and it totally blew my head off with my Logitech z906 system at only 60% volume.

Absolutely no crashes or any game-breaking bugs up to now.

The quintessential shooter to replay every year, with your PC upgrades and each time in a harder difficulty.
Proper external sound system and blood-proof clothes recommended.

Okay, so I had to jump through a few hoops before I could get the game running properly (that is 3 hours of testing multiple display settings, uninstalling and updating drivers, uninstalling and rolling back drivers, getting Borderless Gaming because the game looks awful in fullscreen, etc.). But if we ignore these technical issues that will most likely be fixed some time after launch with a couple of patches, and we evaluate the game as an experience, then I do believe this will be a mostly positive review.
Before I start I want to make clear that I did preorder the game, for Hype reasons, but I'm reviewing this not as a fanboy, but as a veteran gamer that paid full price and expects a game that was properly made and runs as expected. (Don't be fooled by my not so impressive Steam library, after gaming for about 20 years you tend to amass quite a bit of physical copy games and experience.

This Game Is Amazing

Of course, this kind of game will not be for everybody. It requires multiple playthroughs if you wish to get the most out of its story, and even though it doesn't require you to know the lore of the previous games, you'll want to go find out. (Especially with characters like Emil appearing out of nowhere) The best way I can describe this game is an Open World JRPG-like Hack 'n Slash Combat Based game.
Think about a game not quite as open as Xenoblade (in world size or open-endedness, with standard sidequests and inventory management for a JRPG, with a combat system not quite as flashy/complex/difficult as Bayonetta, but similar (considering Platinum Games are responsible for delivering this title to us). This description alone is enough to get someone like me to have a nerdgasm, but it might actually drive quite a few people away from the game; people who are looking for simpler action and not so much story (a little like the DmC with emo Dante).

Story

I won't dive too deep into the story to avoid spoilers. Even though my gameplay time proves I've not yet completed the game, the whole story has been revealed to me through Twitch streams and YouTube videos. The story revolves mostly around YorHa androids 2B and 9S, which have been assigned to help out the android resistance at Earth. Even though androids are not allowed to have feelings, by the end of the story progression you end up feeling for them yourself. They speak their minds and desires with surprising freedom if you take into consideration the fact that they are synthetic beings. The story itself is not the best I've come across, but several quirky moments and instances of comic relief make me grateful that Yoko Taro was the producer. Brilliant and unusual storytelling + good gameplay and combat = happy gamers.

Gameplay

The gameplay can be as complex or as simple as you wish it to be here. You can set it to easy and relax while the plug-in chips do most of the hard work for you and enjoy the story, or set it to hard or very hard and get yourself punished mercilessly if you did not do the necessary preparations for a fight. The multiple sidequests of the game are the generic "go find this for me", "please find/save someone", "go kill these enemies", "go activate this" quests found in most MMOs and RPGs. This is not necessarily a bad thing. It gives you time to take the world in and do some exploration on your own. Exploration allows you to find materials and objects that you can sell or use to upgrade your weapons, Pods and yourself. Plug-in chips serve the function of trinkets or the kind of buffs you would find in a piece of gear in another game. Each has a certain effect (movement speed, % of health recovered after killing an enemy, max health up, defensive and offensive boosts for both ranged and melee attacks, etc.). You can find or buy these chips, and fuse them together if they are the same type and tier to get a new one with stronger effects while taking less space. You have a certain amount of "storage" available for these chips which you can expand with in-game currency. Each chip will have a certain storage cost to prevent you from becoming too overpowered. Better chips will take up more space, of course. Players going through the game in easy mode will be able to install chips that perform certain actions automatically for them; such as shooting, dodging, and healing (this last one can be found and equipped in other difficulties as well). Boss fights are intense but not unfair. Sidequesting is not required but recommended if you intend to have a not-so-hard-time with some of the fights. Leveling up is not so important, as you'll be fighting machines with a higher level than yours most of the time during the story anyways (but don't expect to be able to go up against a machine 30 levels higher than you and not get instakilled).
Combat feels fluid, and OH MY GOD thanks for letting us cancel out of combos with a dodge. There is nothing worse than committing to a heavy strike and getting punished by another enemy before you even land the hit. The Pods are there as your support DPS source, but have multiple programs that can be installed to provide even more support or devstating attacks. Combat does not have the depth of a DmC game, but does not feel shallow or simple either.
The open world can sometimes feel a little barren and washed out, but the story provides an acceptable explanation for this. As humans have fled earth, and plantlife and the elements have taken over once more. There is not exactly plenty to do everywhere, but at least there are lots of collectibles scattered anywhere you care to look. These will help you in one way or another, so your time spent climbing that building for 5 minutes won't be wasted.

Visuals

This is not the most graphically impressive game you'll ever lay your eyes upon. This is no DOOM 2016 or Rise of the Tomb Raider. You can most certainly tell it's a console port when you see some of the textures up close. Render distance and aliasing are quite bad. The art direction, however, is superb. There is a big contrast at play here. Dark abandoned factories highlighted by pools of glowing molten metal, huge cities with nothing but the dilapidated builings for evidence that humankind once resided here, a vast desert with nothing more than the scorching sun reflecting on the dunes as you slide down through them, forests full of flora that blocks out the sky, and an amusement park with machines dancing as fireworks light up the horizon. I think you get the idea. The atmosphere is well structured, and the fact that 2B can run at a decent pace will help you feel that you're not going too slow but still allowing you time to take it all in. All of this accompanied by the perfect soundtrack for each area... speaking of which!

Music

Vocals are the new thing here. Keiichi Okabe's work here is brilliant. You know a soundtrack is good when you can't wait to be able to download it and keep in in your playlist for casual listening or to replace another game's soundtrack as you play (looking at you League of Legends). I can't help but feel that all the tracks were rather similar but had a definitive distinction between them. Sadly, except for Beauvoir, the music was never really used to complement the fights themselves. The music definitely fits the pacing of the fight, but the bosses don't move and attack along with the music. Superb soundtrack. Even if you never play the game I recommend everyone to listen to it.

Performance

Here's where everything goes south. To say that the PC launch was bumpy is an understatement. If they at least bothered making a demo for PC we could have noticed many of these problems right away and have them ironed out by launch date. As of now the game has some serious crashing and FPS issues on certain setups. Solid 60 FPS so far on my rig tho.

I've run out of available characters for the review. My final score is 9/10 2B butts. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

For just 4 bucks, I have a 3D rendered waifu dancing for me on my desktop in 60 FPS 1080p witha music visualizer to the side. I guess you can NOT do that, and go with something more subtle instead. But why would you?
