I wanted to write a review of DayZ long time ago but i've just passed the 1000th hour mark. Now i feel like it's a good time to do so. I've been playing the game since 2015 maybe. I've been through a lot. I had moments where i felt like the game is dead already, i had moments where i couldn't thought of a better game. Despite that I want to tell you what this game is like and what to expect before you buy it.

Community:
So the first thing is a community. I know from a fact that the quality of the community is a huge part of the game like this. You don't need to worry as the DayZ community is probably the best i came across. Players aren't toxic, the majority of them love to interact and have fun playing with random strangers. Of course it depends on the situation and a player but you don't have to be scared if it comes to talking to people. Although you can't trust anybody 100%. You will learn that after some time in game haha. The people that play DayZ are really into the climate of the game, and you won't come across many "noobs" as they quickly leave cause for them the game seems too hard or just sensless.

DIfficulty:
So if people leave is the game "too hard"? I woulnd't put it like that. The game might not be the easiest to pick up, but it's definitely not imposible to start playing. As i said before, people who play DayZ are really into the climate that the game creates. They also needed to start somehow. What i mean is that the game is not too hard, it's just not for everybody. We'll talk about it later but now let's talk about difficulty. The game is easy. The concept is easy. You just spawn, find stuff, travel, talk to people, kill people, build bases and you try to survive all that time but at the end you die. Trust me you will die. What's next? You repeat the whole thing. So it's easy. The overwhelming part is probably the scale of the map and the lack of knowledge you have about this map. But now when the game's moddable it's way easier. You can just install map mod, compass and you'r good to go! The second thing you might find hard at the beginning is the shooting mechanics. It's just realistic, but as long as you don't expect it to be like Call of Duty or something like that, you're good to go.

Climate:
I said that the game is not for everybody, and it's not. Nowadays most of the games are just fast and quick. The DayZ is nothing like it. Maybe 10-15% of the time spent in game is real action. Of course it depends on the way you play, but still i wouldn't aim higher than 30%. That's why i think not everybody will love it. But what it has to do with the climate? Well it has. Even if you don't do anything special, the game builds up the feeling of not being safe (btw you should never feel safe), and you can get used to that, but the moment the action starts - oh my god. There is no other game that made me feel like that. You're literally cold immidietly and you're shaking. You're actually scared of dying. That's the feeling that pays off the money you spend and the time you putted into playing. Trust me it's worth any money. It's addictive to feel like it. Also that feeling made me fall in love with the game. Also i think it's nice to implement it that the game can make you feel really satisfied. I'm personally a sniper most of the time and landing a long distance headshot while the guy is running is something that is really hard to explain but trust me, that's satysfying (especially if you keep in mind that the shooting mechanics are pretty damn hard to learn).

Tip:
I know the game is not the cheapest but you should definitely give this game a shot. Since you can refund the game i think it's really worth trying. Don't listen to people talking about how buggy and laggy the game is, cause it's not anymore. I recommend DayZ 100%. I also recommend watching some YouTubers before you buy it, but remember, you won't feel as good watching as you would playing.
