While the game might not do a whole lot to advance the series in any meaningful ways it perfectly recaptures the spirit of its predecessors and that's all I really wanted. This is a must play for any fans of the series and a solid beat 'em up overall.

Very much inspired by by Super Mario Galaxy which isn't a bad thing. The worlds are vibrant and colorful and the platforming is pretty strong. As a sonic game it just doesn't feel quite right though. Controls seem tighter than past 3D sonic games but it lacks the speed that the series is known for which is disappointing.
