Im addicted.

Needs some technical polishing but overall they struck the gold that Overwatch 2016 had in it's era.

All heroes free.
5 dollar NEVER EXPIRING battlepasses.
No role queue.

Love it or hate it, you can't argue the business model is incredible. Hope it keeps up, cause I can't put it down.

Fun game. Horrible devs on multiple different layers. Crazy how far a game can fall.

Early Access Review
Waited a whole year for this game. It went above and beyond my expectations. This is like if they took Pokemon and turned it into a strange breed of Factorio and Valheim. Pal animations are detailed and cute, the world is absolutely massive, and the game constantly keeps throwing new things at you to work towards or pleasantly be surprised by. There's definitely some bugs, specifically with enemy pathing, but I can forgive since they are few and far between and this is early access. Highly Recommend.

I really like this game. The whole “no offline” fiasco has ruined this game’s reviews. Outside of that confusion, the game is phenomenal. No lag, low price, optimized… feels like a finished game and I hope they continue to add content onto it.

Here’s my drop in the bucket to try and save an undeserved bad reputation.

I really don't understand some of these reviews...
Like if you don't want to PvP in a PvEvP game.. then like.. go play something else? This game was clearly advertised as PvEvP (think Hunt Showdown, Destiny's Gambit gamemode, etc.) In those modes/respective games, your also forced to deal with fighting other players, that's what makes it unique and sets it apart from other games. If that sounds fun, then you'll enjoy this game. That said, since people are whining, Capcom has already announced there will be dedicated PvE modes on the full game's release, just don't expect to play them here in the beta.

Optimization is stellar for myself. Budget-mid PC runs everything smooth fps on high settings.

Exosuits feel great, my favorite so far is Nimbus because it's a healer that seems to excel at being mobile while dishing out a lot of damage alongside supporting allies.

My one gripe about this game that I've found is that I hope rigs get a small buff in the future, they seem quite weak and not even worth using half the time. If you like team based shooters and want to try something different, definitely check this out but remember, this game is built for PvEvP, not just PvE. Wait for full release if your more interested in the PvE.

Optimized. Scary. Fun.

Do not play this expecting a story driven campaign.

My only hope is they find interesting ways to keep chucking content at this game post-full release.

Incredible deck builder with a distinct aesthetic charm that will keep you playing for hours.

While the game is very simple to understand, it combines many simple mechanics into a turn based symphony of action management and card synergy. In other words, it's depth comes from the sheer amount going on at any given time. With each card you add to your deck, the complexity of both your enemies and your own deck seem to amp up. One of my only gripes I have is that I would love to see more tribes added to the game. The game has 3 very different tribes you can center your deck around, all having different companions and cards you can obtain throughout a run. While all 3 tribes are very fun, it leaves me wanting more and I hope DLC can add more of that variety. That said, the game has all the replayability you'd expect out of a roguelike, and I hope to put in more time with it to give it the playtime I think it deserves.

This game is a must buy for anyone who enjoys this genre of deck building in the same vein as Slay the Spire.

Spread the word so we get a big community for this one.

If you have any interest in Assassin's Creed multiplayer meets Hunt: Showdown, you'll have a blast.

To sum it all up, ignore the mixed reviews, this game is awesome. Most people are mad that this is not Left 4 Dead 3 or bought the game on launch when it was in a very broken state. If your looking for a zombie shooter with decent gunplay and a roguelike/deckbuilding twist, this might be the game for you.

Why this game is fun

At it's core, this game is a zombie shooter with a focus on deck building and roguelike elements. When people see gameplay of Back4Blood, I think many of them are thrown off by the fact deck building is an actual mechanic in the game. You choose between cards that are essentially perks that will basically allow you to customize your playstyle. The variety is pretty vast when it comes to character diversity and a well-balanced team is key to winning in the harder difficulties. The gun-play is rock solid and I found myself enjoying many different styles of play. From healing my team as a medic, utilizing supportive abilities that allow me to disarm hazards, being tanky melee beserker, and even a chef that helps spawn more food items around the map.

PVP is pretty fun, even if it isn't your thing it can be really enjoyable with some friends. I think the "who can survive longer" mentality behind the point scoring system is a really fun idea.

Why the mixed reviews then?

This is partially due to the game being launched in a very poor state. Mechanics not fully realized, bugs rampant, and overall lack of optimization. Over the course of the game's lifespan, all the problems from launch have been resolved fortunately. The developers actually care about this game and have continued to improve it instead of abandoning the rocky start they had. I hope this continues to be the case going forward.

Should I buy it?

With this winter sale, there isn't a real reason to not buy the deluxe edition of this game for a measly 27 dollars (70% off) with all the DLC included. Without a sale, I'm not sure I can recommend getting the deluxe edition. As for the base game, I think the game is very reasonably priced and is definitely worth picking up to see if you like it. There is definitely still a decent sized community playing the game who are both new and seasoned. My only warning is to not expect Left 4 Dead 3 because that is not what this game is in the slightest. This game got dealt a dirty hand for trying to do something different and I hope that others will realize that this is game worth peoples time upon a second look.

Great concept and gameplay mechanics so far. Lots of bugs need fixing, optimization should be the priority here. First day of early access most of these problems are expected. With time, I'm very excited to see where this game goes. I will update my review to reflect the current state of the game.
