I love Squad, I haven't played a Mil-Sim game before playing this, (other than Insurgency and Insurgency Sandstorm which is arguably arcadey) so squad was a real dive in the deep end for me.
Offworld Interactive have done an incredible job setting up a game that fits 100 people in a server and provides the tactical realism of fighting and communicating with a squad of 8 other people with the punishing aspect of being knocked out in 1-2 hits.
Good tactics will always prevail in Squad, and with the right strategy you can mow down a whole squad with one well placed machine gunner or be on the receiving end of a Tandem rocket into the side of your vehicle.
