This game is fun, there's no lie in that. However there are issues.

Firstly, the game is free which is obviously huge, as literally anyone can start playing the game.

The start is pretty decently explained, you explore small islands, each one basically teaches you a core aspect of the game yadda yadda yadda.

The issues start to arise when you get quests like "Build a kiln" for this, you require clay. As of writing this review the devs have removed almost all clay deposits from the starting region, aside from one area on the tutorial starting islands which will likely be changed soon.

Why is that important? You need the clay to build the kiln, the kiln lets you make glass & glass lets you make new, higher tier weapons and tools, some of these tools are required to make wooden planks etc etc.

So where do you find clay now? In the second region, to unlock new regions you have 3 options. Grind, pay for 1 region, or pay for all of them.

I was able to use the new tools to grind until I had enough stuff to get into the second region, to do this you need 2000 logs, 300 cloth ( 1500 cotton ) and 100 leather. (roughly 50 medium animal hides or 100 small animal hides)

With the new tools this still took me around 5 hours of grind, I had played about an hour with friends until we stopped because we needed the clay & we couldn't find any. The other 4 were spent doing the story, hoping that MAYBE going through it would unlock the second region, IT DID NOT.

Whilst I understand it's a free game, and like I said, a fun, non-buggy F2P, that's a joy with friends that fun will only last about an hourish until you're finished with literally everything you can do without either grinding to hell, or paying money.

I would have happily paid for a region or maybe even all 5 if, you know, I could play more than an hour.

If you don't mind the grind, then I suppose it's fine, but each new region requires more and more of different resources, again it took me roughly 3-4 hours of starting from the beginning to being able to unlock the second region, and that's with some knowledge of the game & few resources from when I played with friends.

New players beware the free mark, it's only really free for an hour.

A great game from CA, can't wait to play TW:WH3 in a few days.
Recommend waiting for sale then getting as much DLC as possible.
