Rise is well... At a weird spot.

I really wish I could give a mixed review, because as amazing and fun the gameplay is. It doesn't even hold a candle up to the other monster hunter games.

Releasing a game right after world would give it pretty big expectations, and I know this game is for the switch but this somehow brings less content and fun compared to mh3u, mh4u, and mhgen, all of which being for the 3DS.

It's severely lacking in that Monster Hunter charm, and the story, regardless of whether or not you care about that in a Monster Hunter game, is very noticeably lacking. Even the pacing within the quests is really questionable compared to ALL of the Monster Hunter games.

I say buy this whenever a sale comes or you really like the gameplay aspect more. Other than that don't even bother. It's really lacking in roster, world building, pacing, and the hunts go by way too quickly. All of the monsters are extremely squishy and the only difficulty this game has is the monsters doing a high amount of damage.

I'm half and half about this DLC, but in short I overall think it is worth your money! There is somethings Capcom could've done better though, but I still recommend buying this DLC for what it is.

Making my complaints short, I was really hoping Capcom would give Vergil his own unique bosses and missions, to properly conclude this franchise, but yet again we get the same missions from the base game and the only thing unique with playing as Vergil in terms of story is about 3 new cutscenes. The final boss of this DLC is also pretty cool and just like fighting the final boss as Dante and Nero, this version is probably the most dynamic and flexible final boss of this year.

There... Isn't much else to say about this DLC. In my opinion this game's Special Edition lacks the most new features in the entirety of the series when it comes to special editions. Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition added more features by adding a playable Trish and Lady, and that's honestly really disappointing. Even more so that the Devil May Cry Reboot is the only DMC game that gives Vergil his own unique missions.

That being said, for what it's worth. I'd recommend this.

Amazing Game, as this review is being written, it's only 5 days old and already definitely one of my favorite Bullet Hells.

Maiden and Spell is similar to Acceleration of Suguri and Touhou, except there's more variety of what you can do with your skills and patterns. Even if you're a casual gamer, you should definitely give this game a shot. It's easy to learn when you pick it up, but it's pretty hard to master, but upon learning the game, it is really fun in the process.
