The launch day was, let's say...rough.

POST LEGEND CAMPAIGN REVIEW: However, the content has been more rewarding, the story finely tuned, and environments/game-play VERY much stepped up from Lightfall and Witch-Queen. It's certainly worth the base addon buy. Will update more as it progresses.

For the uninitiated, the world of role-playing games (RPGs) might seem a tad overwhelming. Fear not, for "Baldur's Gate 3" unfolds its wonders at a measured pace, allowing players new to the genre to immerse themselves without feeling lost. With its rich narrative, the game engages players, guiding them gently through its mechanics. The story unfurls organically, giving ample time to grasp the nuances of decision-making, character building, and combat strategy. Every choice matters, every dialogue option shapes your story, and this ensures a deeply personalized experience. Such a detailed and intuitive approach makes this game a perfect entry point for those wishing to dive into the world of RPGs.

Graphically, "Baldur's Gate 3" is a marvel. Its lush environments, meticulously detailed character models, and fluid animations pull players into a fantasy realm that feels truly alive. Exploring every nook and cranny becomes a delight, not just for the tangible rewards but also for the sheer beauty that permeates its landscapes, cities, and dungeons. The audio, too, is outstanding. An enchanting score amplifies the game's emotional beats, while ambient sounds and expertly voice-acted characters breathe life into the world.

But where "Baldur's Gate 3" truly shines is in its deep respect for the Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) legacy. Those familiar with D&D's intricate mechanics will find joy in the faithful translation of its rule set to the digital realm. Combat is a strategic dance, rich in possibilities, where positioning, skill usage, and adapting to unexpected events can mean the difference between victory and defeat. The game captures the magic of D&D sessions, where the unpredictable nature of dice rolls can lead to thrilling successes or harrowing missteps.

The inclusion of classic D&D races and classes allows players to craft their dream characters, evoking the spirit of tabletop character creation. Interactions, too, feel straight out of a D&D campaign, with multiple pathways through situations based on character abilities, alignments, and past decisions. It's a heartening nod to traditional D&D gameplay, where imagination and creativity often pave the way for uncharted solutions.

Moreover, for the D&D faithful, there's a profound joy in recognizing iconic monsters, spells, and lore, expertly woven into the game's narrative. Encountering a Beholder or deploying a cunning "Tasha's Hideous Laughter" spell not only serves the gameplay but also resonates with the rich history of the D&D universe.

Yet, despite its deep D&D roots, "Baldur's Gate 3" never feels inaccessible to newcomers. The beauty lies in the balance - paying homage to its origins while crafting a modern, engaging, and intuitive RPG experience.

"Baldur's Gate 3" is more than just a game; it's a grand adventure that welcomes players of all backgrounds. Whether you're a newcomer to RPGs seeking a captivating introduction or a seasoned D&D veteran yearning for a digital realization of your beloved tabletop sessions, this game offers a realm of wonder, challenge, and profound delight. Dive in, and let the story unfold.

TLDR - You can make love to a bear and push hapless people to their death off of cliffs: A masterpiece.

While I enjoy this game, I've found most of the servers to be too barren. If you don't mind the solo grind, it might not be a bad grab - it's free!
